You keep dreaming about raising interest rates as if they will have any impact whatsoever on the categories you have listed. Inflation is here to stay due to the sheer size of the debt. If they raise rates substantially, what do you think will happen to mortgage rates and inventory? It will crush the housing market and the middle class

Fuel Oil: +52.0%
Gasoline: +27.4%
Gas Utilities: +4.4%
Electricity: +3.8%
Apparel: +3.6%
Overall CPI: +3.4%
Food away from home: +3.4%
Shelter: +3.0%
Medical Care: +2.5%
Transportation: +2.4%
Food at home: +2.2%
New Cars: +0.6%
Used Cars: -2.3%
But yea we can totally wait until after midterms to end the Iran war and then hand out $5K to everyone!
CPI report: Prices rose 3.4% in August, matching inflation expectations as the Fed weighs hiking
BTW, 30-year mortgage rates crossed over 7% yesterday and we have a new record of home sellers vs home buyers with a 58% gap. Inventory is no longer the excuse.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the part of the program where we separate the objective thinkers from the blind loyalists.
Handing out $5k to everyone would pour gasoline on that 3.4% dumpster fire of inflation.
Cutting rates in such an environment would do the same (although slower and over a longer period).
Not beating the screaming frick out of the IRGC so that oil moves back down exacerbates everything.
Pointing those out isn't "disloyal," it's objective truth and where we should be demanding MAGA remain standing.
Trump needs to be leading the charge against the growing influence of Islam in American politics, touting the coming benefits of Venezuela being removed from a brutal, communist regime, pushing the growth of deportations (especially as a means to promote self-deportations), blasting Putin for continuing the Ukraine War (which would effectively kneecap Dems since their primary stumping is to be anti anything Trump is for), etc.
He has the keys to deliver a strong GOP win but if he doesn't use them soon, he's going to tank those chances as voters begin to look at their pocketbooks as being a more immediate concern than illegals and pedos.

I just want to know why Trump decided 2.0 had to be this different from 1.0.
I don’t care and have never cared about his personality or antics. Let the man be who he is. But his selling point was the lack of unhinged leftism and a good economy.
Trump 2 should have just been
1. Trade war with china renewed
2. closing border
3. Deregulation
4. Cutting government spend and corruption
That’s it. That’s all he had to do.
I’m not saying that fixing trade with other countries, going after Iran, etc. isn’t worthwhile. It is. But it should be taken on strategically and probably 1 at a time. Instead he went full nuclear on everything. I love trump, but frick me is it too much to ask that I don’t spend 70 dollars to fill half a tank of gas or 100 bucks for 3 dinners worth of groceries.

Numbers always drop in September..that's when government determines COLA for social security recipients.
Think how much money just 1% saves

We are currently getting Democrat type results from Trump right now. Its basically like Biden is back in office and all of this was 100% self inflicted.

Cool man. Then vote Democrat. It can't get any worse, right?

At least you are admitting what a clown show this Administration is.

Except for gas, everything else seems to be around historical norms. And the gas rise is clearly temporary, and arguably for a good reason. Unfortunately reason doesn’t enter the minds of the average Dem voter.

What it means is I’m not going to debate the Iran conflict in a thread about inflation. But yes temporary gas price increases fully understandable and justified, and still lower than under Biden.
Posted on 9/11/26 at 1:11 pm to stout
And you know the real numbers are worse.

Midterms are going to be brutal. Who is “excited” to vote for Republicans?

The food price change isn't correct; it is much higher to us on Main Street.

Democrat results would mean the economy is stable, growing and inflation is low.
You guys keep pointing to the one time in 100+yrs where we had a global pandemic as the status quo when there is decades of data that proves Dems run the country better.

Everyone's answer to inflation is to raise interest rates so the economy can be slowed down and less demand out in the market. So, you and I suffer.
How come the answer is never to cut government spending and handouts. Have their economy be slowed down. Slowing down the outflow of monopoly money from the US Government will have a far greater impact on inflation than messing with interest rates and trying to artificially slow the economy.
It's about making you and I suffer, not them. I wish everyone would wake up to this.
If you are out working and doing your part, you get fricked. They don't want success in the economy or for you to make and spend more money. Government carries on as do people that don't work and suck at the government teet.
