$600 is simply not enough when you have to choose between paying your rent and putting food on the table. That’s why my American Rescue Plan finishes the job of getting $2,000 to folks who need it most.

Now entering the spin zone

ETA: And let's be honest, one time payments aren't enough regardless of the amount if you haven't been working for almost a year.

The $2000 checks were going to fly out the door as soon as Warlock and Ossoy won.

Trump said the same thing. $600 not enough.... and pushed for $2,000. I guess they both realize “free money” is popular.

Rent payment in a lot of areas? Yes it is possible.

Rent payments in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc? Hahahaha, no, unless you are in a rent controlled property.

Yeah, because an extra $1400 is really going to make a difference to someone who hasn't paid their rent for the past 8 months...

$ 1,200 = Crumbs - Nancy Pelosi

$ 600 = Substantial - Also Nancy Pelosi.

Trump asked for $2,000. The Establishment said no. Gave money for Pakistan and South America instead.

A competent, caring Congress would have had this money to the public by last September ( Yes, before the election ) and then worked hard to open up the economy.

But that's not the Congress we have.

Republicans fighting this is gonna result in one thing:

1400 dollar checks to only people who don’t pay any taxes.

If they’d leave it be about half those checks would go to middle class people and serve as a tax cut for them...

Why are republicans fighting to ensure this is a welfare program and not at least, partially, a middle class tax cut?

Why were republicans ok with stimulus for foreign nations and seemingly more welfare but against middle class tax rebates?
