Create an environmental disaster and blame it on Trump.

Not a bad idea from their pov but I think that would cause too much of an international stir and cause other countries to get more involved if they were to do that

It is crooked but narrow, thus not straight but strait.

Not a bad prediction, but I doubt it. The reason is that it would require infrastructure they could not control. If they tried it we could bomb their oil pumping stations and that would put an end to it. They might divert from Kharg Island to a natural basin in their desert. That would act as a large storage container that would enable them to keep their wells flowing. It would cause a lot of ecological damage, and it would not help with their cash flow problems, but it’s better than the alternative.

They are already burning off crude in surface pits … I suspect that practice will be replicated as more and more storage areas exceed their engineered capacity

This blockade may eventually achieve that without any further action from Iran. The economic fallout of this is going to be severe and widespread the longer this continues.

Correct. Which is why we should have never started it to begin with.

This will go down as one of the dumbest foreign policy moved in American history.

They will be showing how unhinged they are, and further proof they don't need a nuclear weapon.

Interesting theory. More plausible would be the radical Mullahs and generals order the destruction of the oil fields as a last gasp of failing.

I was thinking the other day that if they run out of storage they would either pump it into the Gulf or go all Saddam and blow up Kharg Island themselves. If they can’t sell it or store it then I could totally see them being self destructive enough to lash out and destroy Kharg Island so it would keep the price of oil elevated for years and years to come. I can see them doing either and it wouldn’t shock me. They could destroy every bit of infrastructure on Kharg Island so everything has to be rebuilt from scratch to increase the pain on the world.

This is the dumbest take I have seen in a while. It requires ignorance to a ridiculous level.

You think iran is bad now, imagine how bad they would be with nuclear weapons.

Even worse imagine them with enough rocket fuel and thousands more rockets and drones and nuclear weapons.

Imagine iran after they had nuclear weapons going around saying hey, we want you to pay tolls for using the SoH.

World said no, they stay firing hundreds of missiles at ships.

You bomb iran and you are in the same situation as now except they have nuclear weapons.

So they give one to a random terrorist and they take a ship and blow it up on the water in a bay of a large city.

Iran is causing problems now. This is more a sign that this should have been done about 30 years ago.

There were a number of colossal mistakes in the intervening 50 years. But the fact is this regime is too dangerous to the world to survive as is.

And they're are a number of people on this board that are not thinking of what a stronger theocratic crazy violent regime would do if they had more rockets to cause problems, more drones to cause problems and nuclear weapons.

One quick way to turn every Democrat against Iran is for Iran to pump their oil anywhere there’s a seabird and a camera.

Yeah...which is why this could have been handled with diplomacy

Instead we kicked a hornet's nest and now have the potential to plunge the entire world into a global recession, start a famine in the global south (I'm sure that will do us favors) and frick the domestic economy at the same time

Not a single "goal" has been achieved at this point and we're looking like complete clowns

The dumbest move was our handling of Iran over the past 30 years

Paying them money to continue being dipshits

Unfortunately the IRGC won't listen to anyone which is a big reason why KSA, Jordan, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar along with a few others are paying us to be there. The fact that we were doing this should've been grounds to eliminate the IRGC.

You seriously aren't paying attention with the games they're playing. They're only saying "Ok" to us then turning around and saying "we never agreed to anything." If we're threatening to knock out their infrastructure and they're still playing games then true diplomacy would not work in a million years.

Violating EU sustainability regs might be the only thing capable of moving them toward hostilities.

No. They couldn't risk the operational shutdowns it would cause to their 95 desalinization plants.
