I think it’s time for Trump to make an example of Portland.
I would like for the White House to issue the following statement:
“Due to the refusal by municipal officials to accept our offer of law enforcement assistance, the US Government can no longer guarantee the safety of Federal employees within the Portland city limits, nor the safety of any residents or visitors to the Portland metropolitan area.
I have ordered the Federal buildings in downtown Portland vacated and physically secured by close of business tomorrow, August 31st. All Federal employees will be granted two weeks paid personal leave beginning Tuesday September 1st, at which point they will be advised as to wherethey should report for resumption of duty. No Federal services attended to out of the buildings in the City of Portland will be provided during this two week period.
It is my hope that the officials of the City of Portland will be successful in resuming normal operations in the absence of US Government personnel.”

Yep. He only got the position in June because the previous police chief (a white female) stepped down so they could appoint a black person to the position. This is what happens when you give jobs to people because of the color of their skin and not because of their experience and qualifications.

He was set up to fail thanks to the mayor and governor. I don’t really think it’s on him. He and his department are out of their depths. They need help. Badly.

Only problem there is that, as usual, Trump's really doing the exact right thing by protecting the U.S. government assets. He could/would do what you suggest if he weren't actually by default drawn to fulfilling that duty and obligation.
