Because this will never end until one side is completely gone. They've been fighting longer than most of us have been alive. Israel is the most likely winner in a battle to the finish, and as much as I dislike them, we could be rid of them if everyone just ignored them. We'd have to kill the muslims to achieve the same.
Having Israel level Gaza and then move in and rebuild on their own is the most practical solution at this point.
