could New Orleans get turned into the venice of america?
New Orleans has more miles of canals than Venice.

from the NOAA website
so a little over an inch and a half every 10 years.....
That's, if the estimates are even right, a little over a foot in 100 years from now. This is completely contrary to the hair-on-fire immediacy these stories breathlessly imply.
We're adaptable, if nothing else. In such a scenario populations will shift on their own over time.

The Utah Cajun will surely but the possibility of New Orleans being the Atlantis of the GOM is not possible

I will be enjoying chargrilled oysters, Sazaracs, and beneits there in September

This is a land grab. They want you to sell out at low prices. Dont do it. We’ll move to Vicksburg as a whole in about 100 years or so when/if it happens.

I've been hearing about this shite since I was a small child....
What was it back in the 70's, losing a football field an hour?
I figured we've have water over our heads by now...

Ehhh, leave them be, They already know it is below sea level. If they wanted to get out, they have had plenty of time.

Why does it have to relocate? Can’t we just let it sink into the ocean?

We haven’t the NOLA tourism industry expand into guided Gondola tours through our historic and scenic canals yet.

Should just elt the Dutch handle it all in Louisiana.

Show me where the sea level is rising.
if we talking the height of the river, that actually is going up.
not because of more water, but because the levees prevent the sediment from spreading out, so it builds up in the lower parts of the river. and in turn the height of the river also goes up.
New Orleans is sinking. River is going up.
no bueno for the city....eventually

Wasn’t it supposed to be underwater by like 2012 or something

Im still.mad at God that a lot more of the levee system didnt collapse after Katrina.
That shithole city just needs to go away and let the Mississippi go where it needs to go naturally.
A city simply doesnt need to be sitting below sea level counting on man made levees, to exist.

The entire nation of the Netherlands has dealt with much worse for much longer. And they’re still with us.
Posted on 5/11/26 at 2:56 pm to back9Tiger
Eh it's rising because the land is sinking?

It's probably better for society as a whole if that whole area is sucked up by the Gulf of America and most of It's inhabitants with it.
Beyond New Orleans specific, the Mississippi River is naturally attempting to join with the Atchafalaya River which will flood and wipe out everything below where they meet.
This a fight against nature that man is only capable of postponing for so long.
Eventually, it will happen.
