Not sure I would say "shut down," more like he seized a quick opportunity to attach his name to the stormwater debacle.

BTW, ask him to show you his college diploma.

Colleges being what they are, a lack of a diploma is not necessarily a negative. Many, if not most, college graduates were not improved intellectually, morally, or behaviorally by attending college. He may have many other negatives (I don’t know), but I refuse to hold this against him.

I know they all talk out both sides of their mouth but one of my enduring memories of Graves was seeing him at an Oil and Gas conference saying we had to get all these trial lawyers off companies backs and reduce regulation, then when he was overseeing CPRA saying we need to take these oil and gas companies to task.

Both statements delivered with the same conviction like his life depended on it. My baptism in learning that politicians really don't give a shite about what they are saying, its all about playing to whatever base they happen to be working at that moment.

Do you know what is a fact? Landry has been calling all of the possible GOP candidates and their big supporters and threatening them if they run against him. He is a dirtbag.

All I know is Bel Edwards hates him, and that’s good enough for me.

Some of you are fricking ridiculous…. He’s never hid from his lack of college and it shouldn’t be a factor. He’s worked in legislative circles for a longtime and I personally believe he’s better used in Washington. He doesn’t go out and seek headlines through catchy one liners and gotcha political theatrics but has worked on some difficult agendas they have great impact in our region.

I'd hardly say that Garrett was some dyed in the wool republican out the womb. He was Billy Tauzin's aid for 9 years and Tauzin was a really moderate guy. I am pretty sure Graves started working with him after he switched from being a Democrat but not by much.

90% of the Republicans in Louisiana aged 50 or more were Democrats at one point. Yellow Dog Democrats.

Jeff Landry is a blowhard shitbag attorney. I’d take Graves every time.

Two things really bother me about Graves:

- He has never had a real job. Partied in college, rich dad got him a staff job with Tauzin.

- He has been raised by Democrats (Tauzin, John Breaux).

Seems like a nice guy, but he has been bred to be a politician.

Interesting. I knew the guy well in high school. He was a nice dude and a straight shooter. Wasn’t it him who shut down the drainage tax thing? Seems like a better candidate than any of the other yo-yos out there.

Where you getting this inside info from?

I don't agree with everything GG's has done but he's probably one of the hardest working Representative's in the country.

If people didn’t realize he was an establishment POS when he said that Biden won the election fairly, courts heard many cases and said there was no fraud, and it’s time to move on….

Well, they’re just stupid bc that should’ve been your sign.

Spot on.

Dude showed his true swamp colors during the 2020 election and was quiet as a mouse.

Guy has never held down a real job outside of government in his life.

I'm no Landry fan but Graves is DC establishment 100%. I do not think he would make a good governor.

Bel Edwards hates him because Landry called him out on the stupid Covid shut downs that Bel Edwards did.

Who does Bel Edwards endorse ? Who is running on the Democrat side?

Well Landry did serve in the National Guard, was a law enforcement officer, and also a small businessman/attorney in New Iberia.

I'm not campaigning for Landry, but Graves couldn't even be bothered to finish college and his first "job" was as an aide for Tauzin and he's been in government ever since.

With real world experience alone as a metric I think Landry is the obvious choice between the two.

One of out most successful governors was an ex-businessman, Mike Foster. I think people who have run their own business make better governors than career politicians.

3. I believe that coastalrestoration/flood prevention should be a priority for any governor of this state. Graves knows all the players and is familiar with the issues but his solution has been to throw money at the problem. It’s the thing I like least about him. This $$$ has resulted in studies that form a conclusion that we have a coastal erosion problem. No shite.

Again. He’s good at obtaining Federal money, but he hasn’t been stellar at implementing. Which makes me prefer Graves as a Senator than governor.

You can’t implement a program at the federal level. He prodded HUD to create an entirely new funding source (CDBG-MIT) for Louisiana to get over a billion in funding.

But Congressman can’t write the rules for the funding in the Federal Register. They also can’t implement the Action Plan for the funding. That’s left to the States. Which means it’s left to a Governor.

He couldn’t control the La Watershed Initiative. Pat Forbes and JBE were always going to be able to make the rules governing it.

You have some interesting takes but you don’t understand how federal funding works as it relates to Congressional control and impact.

Garrett isn’t in charge of the Office of Community Development. He didn’t appoint its Director. Ever single member of the La Watershed Commission is an Edwards appointee.

He can’t run the State from Congress.

He’s done a fantastic job. He’s pushed multiple billions through in the LWI money, mid-Barataria, a metric shite ton of WRDA funding for the Coast, Comite Diversion is now funded, and he eliminated the Duplication of Benefits debacle for homeowners impacted by the 2016 Flood.

But he can’t run programs at the State level. That you hold him responsible for that is a lack of understanding of how government works on your part.

Graves has gotten by with his charisma, not his intellect. His "handlers" are all long time Democrats, tied at the hip to people like The Podesta Group.

Sorry, Graves is a poor judge of political character and I'm only grading him as a politician, not a person.

Unless his platform is to remove the State Income Tax, he doesn't have a chance but if he somehow did, people need to look very closely at his political friends and who he is connected to.

I'm no Jeff Landry fan. There are others however who are running that are smart, honest, and are much more forward thinking than Graves or Landry.
