Brother, who is a very experienced commercial pilot texted me this...

No vertical stabilizer on the plane going in. They most likely flew into a thunderstorm and overstressed the plane, and the vertical stabilizer left the aircraft.

Anything is a possibility. Again I am sticking with the icing issue simply because the last transmission they made notated temperature and they tried to make a correction by climbing.

The vertical stabilizer also probably would have left the aircraft on the way down at a decent rate if 20,000 feet per minute. Especially if they were trying to fight it.

FWIW I’m not the one downvoting you or anyone else for having an opinion or your posts I’ll straight up say I’ve said my thoughts but that’s all they are.

The other factor is at altitude the thinner air means aerodynamic stall speed rises. But aircraft also have a speed limit (contrary to some claims ITT). If you exceed the max mach number, you cannot control the aircraft. If you stall it you cannot control it. When those two speeds get too close you can't do anything. Recovering from the stall requires exceeding the mach number. Slowing down to get back to controlability aerodynamically stalls the aircraft. Not something that usually happes at 32,000 for a Lear60, but accumulating ice on the wings or tail raises the stall speed... how much, I have no idea, but anything driving UP the stall speed isn't going to be a good thing, even though the IAS is still high.

Guys quit picking on BoarEd, you’re just jealous you don’t rake in the upvotes like he does!

I get that it’s intriguing to see what happened but those people are idiots walking around there.

Maybe I’ve seen too many TV shows, but wouldn’t the FAA want to be looking at that stuff before people go pawing through it and moving it around?
