The direction I see it more going in is child sex dolls. Like there will be hyper realistic sex bots in 30 years, and that I think will be the question on the table, not if they can have sex with actual children.
We as a culture are moving further and further away from Biblical morality towards the abyss of moral relativism. Once moral relativism takes hold completely, it will be difficult to go back. When everyone is "right", no one is "wrong".

I’m with you here, and I think in 20 years this will go down as our equivalent of the lobotomy. When we start seeing mass suicides of these kids that were fricked up by their awful parents and Josef Mengele of doctors, this will be seen by history as appalling.

I won custody of my 13 month old daughter just under 15 years ago - mom kept taking ambulance rides to the hospital for drug overdoses, so winning custody was easy - we started with "shared" custody, but me with physical custody
one time, the ex got in a spat with her mom (who she lived with) and took my daughter to a hotel with her boyfriend de jour on her visitation weekend
I shut down visits and initiated court proceedings
of course, I was granted full custody right away
had that man touched my girl, I don't know what I would do, but it would be likely that prison would be an option for me
fwiw my ex died of an "accidental" drug overdose about 2 years ago
I feel for your friend, hearing stuff like that really gets to me
