Not to mention age of consent from a Christian perspective is meant for marriage and procreation, not sexual assault, which the pedos want.
Young age of consent laws come from old English common law, going back at least until the 11th century. Up until relatively recently, it was common for women to die in child birth and for children to die young. Many parents would have a dozen children and only a few would live to adulthood. Young wives allowed for more children.
Also, manhood or womanhood generally was accepted to start at puberty. This was somewhat of a necessity a long time ago. Not so much these days with improvements in medicine and increased life expectancy.
Even so, marriage was dictated by parents and the young person being married wouldn't generally consummate the marriage until the onset of puberty. The intent was to safeguard virginity, which used to be a valuable commodity.
Those who want to lower the age of consent today only have sex in mind, not procreation and certainly not life expectancy of the female or children created from the union.
