Anyone that supports this effort, much less takes it, is complicit in our nations fiscal ruination.

I don’t support it, and I reject any notion that I’m responsible for the financial situation of our government.

I’ve never voted for the big government candidate. I’ve always expected those candidates to be responsible with the taxpayers’ money. I paid every penny of tax due from me, and again expected that money to be spent responsibly. The government failed me and continues to fail me.

If they send me a check, it’ll be a small percentage of my tax money that they’ve wasted.

It’s really not so much about socialism or capitalism as it is about party platforms. The democrook platform favors fig, gots, dykes, trannies, illegal aliens, moslem invaders, and green/purple/blue/pink-haired weirdos, feral negroids, and various other human debris.

Trump and the republicans favor regular normal Americans. Why is that such a problem for people like you?

No. It won’t be. 100% of it will be borrowed. Guess who will pay it back?

What would you have said if a Democrat president promised $5000 dividend checks to every adult if the Democrats won the election? You'd be pissed that they were trying to buy votes.

Well said. As I read in an astute post on the "Money" board --

"I'll hang this on the wall next to the tariff dividend and my doge check".

The debt hawks should realize that no matter how they vote, what they do, or what they say... the debt is gonna forever go up. I'd be happy if Americans can receive a little money from the unstoppable dumpster fire going on with our debt.

I wonder how many TDS'ers will refuse the money.

Nobody is going to refuse it.

Everyone will need it for the next bump in inflation that it will cause.

(Not that it will happen or anything.)

Covid stimulus checks that went out.

Or, it could just be that I send $5k less to the IRS than I normally do, that way no "new" M1 is created, it's money I already earned and paid taxes with. People that didn't pay the IRS at least $5k wouldn't get it. Then maybe.

But, it would never pass with that constraint, so F no, shitty idea. "Spend in the US" doesn't mean you're buying Origin jeans, it means you're blowing the money at Best Buy and Walmart, which goes to pay for Chinese and Korean products. Nope.

Didn't vote for Trump?

Not even once, let alone three times?

I don’t know how this is considered a gotcha.

The size of the federal workforce is greatly reduced under Trump. If you were paying attention, he gave early retirement options to tens of thousands of fed employees.

And then there’s DOGE and the USAID purge.

The POTATUS’ handlers exploded the size of the IRS alone.

As a conservative who wants a Rep majority in congress, giving away more than a Trillion dollars is insane.

Have some fiscal resposibility; the deficit is too damn high.

Interesting. And yet the deficit remains the same.

Greatly?

It's down about 6%. Look it up.

And we're spending more than we did WITH all the federal employees, AND Trump has continually pushed to expand Executive power his entire 2nd term.

Don't look now, but those are all aspects of Big Government.
