Diesel pricing in the past was much lower with similar crude numbers. A case can certainly be made that pricing is being manipulated.
“Big Oil” owns less than 5% of all gas stations across the country. Locally/Individually owned retail convenience stores account, single owner, account for more than half of fuel sales in the U.S., with your large Sam’s, Costcos, etc making up much of the rest.
So it ain’t “Big Oil” deciding what to charge you at the gas pump. Also, those convenience stores make more profit margin off the slurpies and in store sales than they do at the gas pump.

Marathon in Garyville was the last grass roots constructed refinery in the US in like 1976
Before that, Convent refinery built by Texaco in 1967

This is an unbelievable example of main character syndrome. Everything is not about you (the US). First, keep in mind Ukraine has been hitting Russian refining assets since the beginning of the war where and when they could. The significant ramp up started in August of 2025 when the medium and long range drones they had been developing started to come on line. They have continued to intensify that campaign as more drones have been built.
The idea that Trump is the only reason they are attacking Russian refineries is absolutely baffling. The reason they are doing it is to restrict the supply of diesel to the front lines. A legitimate military formula that has been used extensively when possible since WWII. While an army runs on its stomach the vehicles run primarily on diesel.
Your premise is laughable and the conditions were set prior to the US attacking Iran. Anyone with a modicum of awareness knew or should have known that crude and distillates (particularly diesel) could be pushed over a tipping point when we attacked Iran. This isn't Ukraine fricking with Trump, it is them doing what they were already doing and it is a logical military tactic to tweak a pressure point in Russia.
