We'll start moving into a recession in the fall. We may not technically be there in the fall, but it will be either the first negative quarter of two or the second signaling the recession. Depends on what Q3 looks like. Q2 was down and at 1.5%. If we are anywhere below 1% for Q3, and I think we will be, better start getting worried.

You get enough of those in the military with weapons not able to feed their families it just might.

True, but we have heard since the beginning of this thing that the Iranian people are going to rise up and it hasn't happened yet. Honestly, I've lost trust in that happening anytime soon. Will it happen eventually? Possibly, but who knows when it will be.

And that's reasonable and a understandable thought. We have decades of this, so it's hard to buy in totally.

What I see is no troops on the ground, their leaders killed, and the current leaders talking openly about the pain of the blockade.

Until I see anything different, I will go with the new plan.

No doubt their economy is collapsing but is it effecting those at the top and in power? According to Forbes the accumulated wealth of the IRGC and Iran's leadership was between 100-200 billion before this started. Not enough to fund a country but enough to live comfortably while your economy is collapsing. That's the biggest issue here, the leaders themselves aren't feeling the strain of these actions. Those same leaders are willing to let the whole country go to hell and the people suffer as long as it means potentially defeating and embarrassing the US.

That can only last as long as the people remain willing to be governed under the threat of severe force. At some point the threat of death becomes less important.

What determines how long they hold out is how long they are willing to allow their people to suffer.

"They" won't necessarily determine how long the hold out will last. The IRGC is effectively down to isolated pockets of hard liners. The leadership is effectively dead or out of country. The Iranian's abilities are down to being able to lob a missile in the general direction of the regional targets where they think US personnel might be.

The people have to decide when it is best for them to root out what is left of the military and IRGC.

It becomes a choice. Either die in an attempt to get your nations back OR die at the hands of a guard that does not care.

The mullahs don’t give a shite about the people and don’t care if the economy craters. They are insulated from this and will fight the Great Satan till the end. We have sanctioned the shite out of Russia and Putin and it hasn’t had much effect.

Not so fast my friend. Bessent also said the 1 billion in crypto was in large part 1,000 IRGC leaders personal assets.

It reminds me of some of these piss ant countries that dont want to take their illegals back. One phone call "Hey Mr. Prime minister, we just canceled your visa no fcking your outside woman at the penthouse in south beach. And your wife we cancelled hers too, no shopping in Palm Beach. And make room for your kids we cancelled their student visas. Now what about those illegals you didnt want?

Not a leftist. Didn't vote for Biden or Kamala. Just someone who recognizes what a mess this Iran thing is after nearly six months. Iran is not and will not 'negotiate' and continuing to attempt to do such is the very definition of insanity. They know Trump is bluffing and know they can run the clock out to the midterms. Maybe Trump shouldn't have cried wolf so many times on twitter and not followed through.

We had a recession under Biden, and no one even remembers it now. If you take this board at face value, we've never experienced any economy as bad as the one we have now as a result of this conflict.

The economy has better indicators now than a few years ago, but for some reason, we're all doomed now but weren't then.

They are not religious zealots, they have parked billions offshore in getaway money, does that sound like a religious zealot.

Just like the "religious zealots" in Palestine, when the money runs out, suddenly they become rational, funny how that works.

removal of govt spending and import export data from the gdp, just underlying growth.

1.7% first quarter, 3.9% second quarter, and unemployment figure is great. Capital spending is at an all time high. Inflation continuing to drop, this economy is strong and getting stronger.

But, you just can't ignore this stuff. Inflation will climb. It has to. You've had inflated gas prices since early spring. I know you are smart enough to know the impact, but most of the mouth breathing pipe hitters on this board think gas is only used for your F-250 Super Extra Duty (that has never touched dirt or grass).

I'm not trying to be gloom and doom, but fuel this high for this long will have a negative effect on the overall economy. I'm not predicting market crash or something, but I think we are headed for a recession. Hopefully it won't be an awful one.

Look for little things outside the economists numbers. Notice everywhere you go now businesses are starting to do the % charge if you use a card to pay. This is not new, but it is way more widespread lately. I am starting to see it everywhere. That is businesses trying save a nickel anywhere they can because the pressures are hitting them now.
