Equipped with this knowledge perhaps it might be worthwhile to invest more in foster care systems and leave these people better equipped to face the real world once they age out of those systems

Seems like there could be a lot of mileage by improving the foster care system

Or with bringing back the value of the nuclear family. Show a graph with the percentage of two-parent homes overlapped with foster care, homelessness, and marriage rates. The more this country strays from morality and christianity, the worse it gets.

If you would just google it you would find numerous sources making this claim

Would it really be that unbelievable that this would be the case?

Often they all are sourced to some advocacy article with a small sample size or that fiddled with the data. For a long time you could find "domestic violence spikes during the Super Bowl" everywhere but it was just BS.

If we are gonna throw money around like drunken sailors...why cant we have a foster care system that properly takes care of children. Instead of PSAs about stupid things, why not encourage people to adopt

I don't think investing in at risk youths is what's tipping the scales in that direction. Call me crazy.

Okay, you're crazy. Here's how:

You're presented with the fact that economic growth has become nearly completely dependent on continuing to grow the debt at a quick pace (deficit spending). What this means is that the only reason we have economic growth is because we're making so much new growth (4 of the last 5 years have had deficits equal to or larger than GDP growth).

Along with that, we are having to create more debt just to fund servicing the current debt.

And you're saying "yeah, but what does a little more hurt?"

So yes, you are crazy.

Oddly I feel that joining the Military is exactly the solution for this.

Honestly a pretty good solution.

Damn. I'd never thought about that connection before. Not shocking once you stop and think about it, but damn.

Powerman, I mean this respectfully, but your solution is typical of left-wing thinking. Instead of attacking the root of the problem, which was caused by the left-wing’s Great Society, you want to add other programs to ameliorate the effects of the previous one. This causes a spiraling of bigger and bigger government and more and more complexity.

Reform The Great Society programs so that living in the cradle of government handouts is unattractive. That will allow the nuclear family to rebound, and there to be fewer children needing foster care. Once that is done, I will join you in clamoring for better foster care. It would be manageable then.

This sounds like a generic liberal call for more money, which will be used to support transgender foster care kids

Dude STFU with this stupid shite

I think you were too quick to dismiss this one. I have little doubt that it would turn out as he suggested - not that you were advocating that.

You guys love to bitch about things

You are the one bitching about the foster care system.

You misquoted him by truncating. He wasn’t criticizing us for bitching; he was criticizing us for bitching then defending the status quo.

To me if you're not willing to invest in improving the system then you have no legitimate reason to bitch about the homeless problem

Baloney! We are already overinvested in solving the problem. Cut The Great Society Programs and spend 20% of the savings on a minimal safety net, and another 20% on improving the foster care system and we’d have much better results, plus we’d be on a path to excellence.

Correct

That seemed obvious. He just wants to be a defeatist and then complain about problems he has no interest in even attempting to solve

Maybe you can make a difference by casting your votes for political candidates who don't perpetuate broken families with the nanny state, anti-father family courts, utter weakness on petty crime, and the general normalization of unhealthy behavior like childhood obesity and sexual degeneracy.

Of course

But those are cultural things that take generations to fix

i would be very interested to know what % were in foster care within the last 5 years.

Are kids just aging out and being put out on the streets at 18? I don't really know how it works.

So we'd have more homeless if abortion wouldve been illegal the past 50 years?

In some cases 18, in some states it's 21

Either way it seems as if these kids are being set up for failure

The most important thing though is that we bitch incessantly about the homeless and never ask any questions about how they got there and never do anything to help mitigate the situation moving forward. The only responsible conservative thing to do is bitch about the status quo and then immediately defend the status quo. Any desire to help improve the situation makes you a communist.
What are YOU going to do the help Powerman? Are YOU willing to open your home to foster kids?
