I love the assumption, despite multiple decades of exit polling, that a supermajority of white men with a college degree in these states vote left. it may be more than 50%, but the fact that you claim to speak for these people is yet another example of your psychopathic narcissism. I pity your wife and anyone you have regular contact with

My God, I just noticed SFP’s post count. Never paid attention before. I did some quick math, rounded for simplicity. 426,000 posts in 20 years, 21,300 posts a year. 1,775 a month, 59 per day. By comparison, I have averaged in my six years here 916 posts per year, 76 per month, slightly over 2 per day.
Even at that, I think I waste entirely too much time on this hellscape of a message board. That’s not a knock on most of you guys but I think most would agree. I didn’t discover the PT board until about a year or so ago and that has upped my post average slightly.
I can’t comprehend how someone could be so sold out to arguing with anonymous strangers on a message board. It boggles the mind. On top of the obsessive-compulsive, addictive behavior that he indulges in, his takes are always so WRONG.
I wonder if there are studies on this. It would be fascinating to make him a lab rat and do experiments to delve into the kind of addictive personality that does this kind of thing. How can you have a life, career, friends, hobbies, touch grass, down time away from the internet and social media, sleep, hang out with YOUR FAMILY, when you send hours upon hours a day here? Is this what those addicted gamers do?
I don’t know how.some of you can spend time arguing with people like this. You’re never going to change his mind and it just serves to feed his addiction. I’d lose my mind. It’s wild. I need that blinking-eyes-in-disbelief guy meme right about now, but I haven’t taken the time to figure out how to do it.
P.S. I just spent more time on this post than probably any I’ve ever done.

I did that same rough math a few months ago for shits and giggles, and came up with similar numbers. Figuring a 12 hour day (giving him the benefit of the doubt) it works out to about a post every 10 minutes…over a span of 20 years.
That’s not sane. There’s something legit wrong with the guy.

what are intelligent, educated professionals for LA thinking now?
In fact, all too often, education and rationality are antitheticals in our system. Students are taught to "believe" in topics like climate change, DEI, genderism, etc. rather than understanding the dubious premisses of respective bases. Far too often, collegiates "learn" by rote rather than rationale, and are granted campus-wide safe-space egress if someone dares to challenge their beliefs. Education is less about thought, analysis, and reason, and more about indoctrination ... indoctrination and requisite emotional defenses of its products' fragility.
The latter mindset is the only general explanation for any plurality of Potatobrain support among the "educated."

I see this regurgitated ad nauseum and it has been for longer than I’ve been alive. College kids are always targeted as being naive and indoctrinated and have been since forever. It’s not a novel or intellectual premise.

College safe spaces "have been since forever"?
To the contrary, traditionally campuses encouraged wide ranging intellectual engagement.
As the saying goes "A young person who doesn't lean left has no heart. If the same person still leans left by age forty, he has no brain." Your reference would appear to apply to traditional campus liberalism, rather than the newer trends away from intellectual discourse.
