Governor Mike DeWine
@GovMikeDeWine
Two weeks from tonight on May 26th, we will announce a winner of a separate drawing for adults who have received at least their first dose of the vaccine. This announcement will occur each Wednesday for five weeks, and the winner each Wednesday will receive one million dollars.
quote:

The pool of names for the drawing will be derived from the Ohio Secretary of State’s publicly available voter registration database. Further, we will make available a webpage for people to sign up for the drawings if they are not in a database we are using.
quote:

The Ohio Department of Health will be the sponsoring agency for the drawings, and the Ohio Lottery will conduct them. The money will come from existing federal Coronavirus Relief Funds.
quote:

To be eligible to win, you must be at least 18 years of age or older on the day of the drawing. You must be an Ohio resident. And, you must be vaccinated before the drawing.

We will have further, specific details tomorrow and in the days ahead.

I know that some may say, “DeWine, you’re crazy! This million-dollar drawing idea of yours is a waste of money.” But truly, the real waste at this point in the pandemic -- when the vaccine is readily available to anyone who wants it -- is a life lost to COVID-19.

Honestly, if you want a bunch of rednecks who currently don't want the vaccine to get the vaccine, this is a damn good way to do it.

Why have a lottery? Just pay everyone a million each to get the vaccine at this point. I mean, it's just money, right?

I was wondering why I got a random survey about if it was moral or ethical for the government to offer a lottery to get people to take the vaccine

Basically throwing the rare person that can't take it under the bus. frick them I guess.

I'm worried that they really will load up the final batches with something nefarious after they realize that only the "bad" citizens are still holding out and we're finally forced to get the vaccine under duress in 2022 or something. Good way to take a lot of right wing / libertarian types out of the gene pool by sterilizing us or worse.

50% of my county have.
50% have not.

150 million looks about right.

40% of Republicans say they will not get it. they didnt hear that trump got it before he left office.

Seriously, how stupid are you?

You are proving that just because we might have voted for Trump that we don’t follow everything he says or does, which goes directly against post after post that you make.

Do you agree with everything that Biden says or does? You probably do which would be incredibly stupid even if you voted for him.

Everyday you prove to be a bigger idiot than the day before.

This is f'n weird. I'm not getting vaccinated because I just don't see the virus as a threat to me or anybody around me, but if I felt at-risk, the lengths to which the gov't/medical industrial complex are going to get everyone jabbed would me me reluctant. It shouldn't be this hard to get people to do something that's genuinely in their best interests and free.

You notice that never in any state's history has there been a lottery like this that encourages good public behavior? Why are they so obsessed with this vaccine? If it's that easy to throw money around, why haven't we been doing this all along for graduates in desired fields or for people over the age of 30 with no felonies, or what have you?

It's all about the non-FDA approved experimental therapeutic.

I took it for work early in its release and am not an advocate one way or another. The ridiculous lengths they’re going to push it doesn’t inspire confidence in me the numbers are accurate though.
