I would assume that needs congressional approval to fund a program like that. So, as we are in a country where congress cant get anything productive through, it isnt happening.

It was a bad idea when he floated it in the days immediately following the strait being shut down and it is a bad idea now. "WE" should not be insuring ships for the world, though in a way we already are, given the roundabout with "Project Freedom" or whatever they dubbed it.

Iranian air defences have intercepted and destroyed a “hostile aircraft” in coastal Bushehr province, reports Iranian media.
“The incident that occurred tonight was related to the destruction of a hostile aircraft,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted the governor of Jam County, Masoud Tangestani, as saying. “The city is now in a normal situation.”
State broadcaster IRIB said the interception was within the past hour.
