JUST IN: Iranian state TV has published what it claims is a new draft proposal for peace with the U.S. — and it reportedly still clashes with several major American red lines.
The proposal allegedly includes demands tied to Iran’s nuclear program and future enforcement measures, while also calling for $20 billion in frozen funds to be released as part of the deal.
VP Vance says he’s hopeful an agreement can still be reached, but warned the administration is focused on securing a deal that Iran won’t violate in the future.
@JacquiHeinrich breaks down the latest developments and what could still blow up the negotiations.
Patience is a virtue..

I was surprised that the internet was actually opened back up yesterday and I began to see a flood of X posts from users who have not been able to get on the internet in Iran forever. Seeing that essentially all the chatter has been "Screw the Regime, Javid Shah etc..." It is not a surprise that Iran is now talking about locking down the internet again.
I reckon the regime got enough data on who does not support it and is now going to shut it down again and start prosecuting more people after they initiate another comms black out with the outside world.

Iranian state TV is now openly pushing for the internet to be shut down again across Iran in the name of “national security.”
State media claims Islamic Republic SIGINT and CYBINT units detected massive data traffic flowing from Iran toward Israel after internet access was partially restored, alleging that “internal Mossad agents” immediately began uploading gathered intelligence once they got back online.
Presenters on state television are now arguing that reconnecting the internet was a mistake and are demanding renewed nationwide restrictions and shutdowns to prevent further “security breaches.”
The messaging once again highlights how the Islamic Republic increasingly frames internet access, free communication, and the outside world itself as national security threats.

I'm kind of surprised that Iran would leak something that drives down oil prices, as their release did. Doesn't make much sense- no surprise when dealing with these guys I suppose.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Kind of a head-scratcher - why would they consider giving up the dust if not for sanctions relief? Lifting the blockade maybe, but I doubt they would settle for that.Posted on 5/27/26 at 10:57 am to TroutGuy
PBS report:

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran would not get sanctions relief in exchange for giving up their highly enriched uranium. His comments come as the United States and Iran try to strike a deal to end the conflict that has engulfed the Middle East for the last three months.
"No, no, not at all. Not sanctions relief, no," Trump told PBS News during a short phone call when asked if the current deal would mean that Iran would give up their highly enriched uranium in exchange for sanctions relief.
He added, "They're gonna give up their highly enriched uranium not for sanctions, relief. No, no, not at all."

Gvir is a bit of a loose cannon, not sure if he speaks for the government.
What happens if Iran agrees to a deal that Trump likes, but Israel is a hard no?
Do we defer to Israel or do we sign the deal knowing that Israel will violate the terms?
When Israel inevitably violates the terms, how should Trump react?

I am proud of the outstanding leadership Robert Gabriel has delivered as Principal Deputy National Security Advisor. In just one year, he has supercharged the White House NSC, accelerated interagency work on President Trump’s top priorities, and partnered with the Cabinet to achieve historic wins.
Robert’s intimate understanding of the President’s foreign policy agenda, his decade-long relationships across the U.S. Government, and his unmatched ability to solve complex problems have made him successful. I am grateful for his service and friendship.

From Trumps press conference today, I read, there is no deal and there won’t be a deal.

So far Iran has not budged on the Uranium issues, the SOH control, the funding of proxies and they have been attacking our Navy and laying mines.
On top of that, Iran wants money up front and reparations.
So how can anyone think the negotiations are positively progressing?
