In the 1995 period my son visited me in Kuwait and I arranged a fishing trip out of the South of Kuwait to some small islands not far from the Iraqi /iran border. While we were snorkeling looking for grouper, we heard the kaboom, kaboom, kaboom noise. Getting back in the boat quickly, the boat captain sez no problem, dolphino fishing. A military boat was shooting a 50 caliper at dolphins nearby. True story

Something is going to budge soon. Trumps statements today indicate he has had enough with them screwing around with proposals and negotiations. His tone about leadership has also changed tone of "They don't have a leader".

Whatever assets the military is waiting to get in place, once they are positioned, it is going to be hellish for the IRGC.

A guy I shared an office with at Taft had been in Kuwait in building that JV plant. He said they would use Pakistanis with shovels instead of excavators because a lot cheaper,

If he goes the total destruction route, which I think is likely, there will not be a deal made with anyone currently. If all hell breaks loose, who would be in authority, or have the authority to make a deal? No one, that's who. If the US goes total destruction on the IRGC, then we'll most likely have to wait until things get sorted out even until successful revolution, not rebellion. The Shah Jr. and the people will have to decide who has authority and the ability to make a deal. Most likely if the people take control they'll gladly give up the nuclear goods to be free from it and move to a path of economic and social prosperity.

I think that is why he was talking with oil companies about supply oil and working around Iran if the war lasted months. The war will not last months, the turmoil and resolution of the mess created will last a while.

Back when I worked in Oman lots of Indians and pakis and they would make about 7$ a day and work 6 days a week for 11 months straight and then would get 1 month off to go back home.

Jesus Christ, why can't people figure out how to use the dollar sign correctly? Public schools failed you.

Love to see a pilot program that has Ukrainians send 1000 suicide drones to the Iranian uprising along with some Starlink anonymous communications to provide training to small organized cells. Iranian gamers won't need much for training and no doubt a few highly experienced Ukraine drone operators could provide extremely valuable tips that would be devastating.

A few hundred precise strikes based on live local knowledge would have the IRGC check points and relocated bases in panic mode.

Referencing Pakistainis is a clear indicator of not true. Now if he would have said Yemeni's with shovel's it may have had more creditability. Born out by the British singsong dity. 'ha ho ha hee, I am a Yemeni , I wear a little skirt and I dig in the dirt ha ho ha hee.

Actually the Equate. project was world class design, construction, permanent staff training, commissioning, safety etc. Also uniquely business designed to split profits cleanly assisted by setting up the sales and marketing head quarters in another country, Dubai, to limit the Kuwait Government ability to screw its Union Carbide partner in the future.

Dow did a much poorer job business wise with the Sadara mega project in in Al-Jubail. The Saudi's experience with screwing partners is legendary and has the potential to wipe out a buck to buck and a half of Dow's earnings this quarter.

apparently you have not traveled very much outside the US expanding your public school knowledge. The dollar sign convention placement does vary from country to country and when talking about Pakis's in Oman, both uses are acceptable

We have already begun reducing oil production.

The production cut is a precautionary measure to prevent reaching storage capacity limits.

Iran has experience in temporarily shutting down oil wells without causing permanent damage.

My experience in the region was:
Every Pakistani was a crane operator.
Every Russian was an instrumentation engineer
The Indians had the worst jobs.

Above was correct that they’d work 11 months on, one month off and often only got paid at the end nd of the 11 months.

In Saudi Arabia you might have noticed that every apartment/commercial building had exposed rebar sticking out the top of the concrete support columns. Salary rules by the government called for setting aside 10 % of the monthly salary to accumulate for the employee. to be used as a completion bonus following successful completion of the employees work contract. The exposed rebar signaled the building contract was not complete more work to come, so the completion bonus would not have to be released to the employee who wanted to go back home. Lots of ways to get screwed in the gulf region.

The Shah Jr
This notion that he is the solution looks good from a western lens but I doubt seriously that this happens. Also, why would he go where the probability of him being assassinated goes up exponentially?

No matter the outcome, Iran is going to be a hot mess for years to come. If every cleric, the president, every governor and parliament member, along with the Iranian Guard and other military branches were removed, there is still going to be 89 million people filled with various factions that will fill power voids and foment strife.

We have an idyllic, symmetrical view of what comes next. History reveals a much darker scenario than the Shah’s Americanized son riding with the Iranian people off into the sunset.
