Would someone explain to me slowly- why we’re starting a war with these people.
1. This isn't a war yet. Come on, you're a lawyer, look it up. Don't fall for the leftist talking points.
2. The Iranian regime has used proxy forces for a long time to attack American interests all over the world.
3. They just slaughtered 35,000 of their own people.
4. It's not happening anymore - period. They've gotta go.
Permanent halt to the nuclear weapons program there is a big positive.

Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, Greenland, Panama…it’s all interconnected and it all points to China.
As U.S. energy ramps up, and China is deprived of subsidized oil, subsidized shipping channels, freedom of navigation through sovereign waters and allies that can cause the U.S. problems…their global position diminishes substantially and their costs of doing business skyrocket.
Venezuela and Iran account for something like 20% of China’s oil imports and they’re getting an insane deal on it. China has a huge problem if that oil goes away.
You’d be forgiven for thinking Trump’s foreign policy seems random and chaotic, but it’s actually one of the most focused and (thus far) well executed foreign policies in at least 2 generations.

I trust Trump with this type of unilateral war power, but wouldn't trust an AOC the same way. For that reason, its probably best to have some type of Congressional approval, as our framers intended.
Our framers intended no such thing. The power to start a war was always the President’s, and the power of congress to declare war is the power to continue actions and to financially account for them. The power to engage in war was always the President’s.

Is this what Trump meant by “no more wars”?
This schtick was played out and derailed the thread 15 or so pages ago. Go back and rub one out to those pages, and let's keep this thread on track as a good update/discussion thread.

We are not starting a war with them; we have been at war with them for 49 years. We are now ending that 49 year war.
Thomas Jefferson initiated the First Barbary War in 1801 with no declaration of war by congress. This is the conflict that inspired the iconic line in the Marine’s anthem, “From the Halls of Montezuma; to the shores of Tripoli”

Iran is a bad actor, murdered 36000 of its own people last month, nuclear capable dirty bombs, sponsor for Hamas, Houthis, Hezbollah, First in the world for terrorism.
this is a better approach than Obama sending 1.5 billion cash on chartered jets

The Rubio meme never ceases to be funny
It would be great if he based his SoS book on these memes. Timeline it and discuss it based on how he was dressed and why. Could be a great coffee table book.

Today, Iran is facing the severe consequences of its evil actions. President Trump and the Administration have made every effort to pursue peaceful and diplomatic solutions in response to the Iranian regime’s sustained nuclear ambitions and development, terrorism, and the murder of Americans—and even their own people.
For decades, Iran has defiantly maintained its nuclear program while arming and funding Hamas, Hezbollah, and other internationally recognized terrorist organizations. Iran and its proxies have menaced America and American lives, undermined our core national interests, systematically destabilized the Middle East, and threatened the security of the entire West.
The Gang of 8 was briefed in detail earlier this week that military action may become necessary to protect American troops and American citizens in Iran. I received updates from Secretary Rubio thereafter, and I will remain in close contact with the President and the Department of War as this operation proceeds.
We pray for the safety of our brave servicemembers and our allies involved in Operation Epic Fury. May God bless them, and may God bless America.
