How is a regime going to survive for very long when their military has been devasted along with their economy, their neighbors are against them, about 97% of the people want it overthrown, and they are facing two of the best militaries in the world? Iran doesn't control the strait of Hormuz. The U.S. has guided over 200 ships out of the strait over the last few weeks.

Because you are dealing with a regime that doesn't care about anything you just listed. Oil is still being sold and money is still going in their pockets. Not enough to run a country but enough to keep the leaders of the regime's pockets fat and happy.

They've reported every comment he has made about "obliterating" their nuclear capability, sinking their navy, how they have no air force, how ships are passing through the strait every night, etc.

They were intercepting a few earlier in the war but the systems that Iran used to intercept missiles were not very effective. Reason number one for that is that were some of the earliest targets for the US and Israel. Reason number 2 is they were using ChiCom and Russian systems which are shitty.

Stock market is clawing back some of the initial gains - should be interesting to see how the afternoon goes, but it is telling that he referenced that the deal "went to the highest levels of Iranian leadership". Weren't we negotiating with those individuals before?
