NYT, WaPo, The Guardian all publish articles critical of modern liberal reactionism

Washington Post: Beware of ‘expert’ consensus. The covid-19 lab leak theory shows why.
The Guardian: If the Wuhan lab-leak hypothesis is true, expect a political earthquake
New York Times: Media Groupthink and the Lab Leak Theory
Now, I'm hardly one to ever believe any of their "mea culpas", but the fact that these three pieces have been published essentially all at the same time tells me there's more to the picture potentially

This will not shift the needle.
You don't understand liberals. There is not more to this picture.
By writing an article, they have absolved themselves of guilt. They are now free to continue doing what they were doing.
They feel cleansed and will double down on what they are doing.

The msm is a cabal, not a group of independent "news" outlet.

that's why i call it the coordinated media
media outlets should be regulated as PACs

I think this is all rope a dope.
There’s a reason the media has unveiled this new narrative and it’s not responsible journalism.
They’re playing an angle here. I expect a consensus in several months disputing that COVID came from the wuhan lab. Then the media will say see we followed up on it and, sure enough, it was just a conspiracy. US and foreign intelligence confirmed along with independent fact checkers.
We will never be given the unvarnished truth.

I mean the media used the words “debunked” and “fringe conspiracy theory” in regards to a hypothesis that seemed on the surface perfectly reasonable and they did it for political reasons that are as petty as they are stupid. You don’t get to say “I’m sorry” and regain your credibility.
The American people largely don’t believe in what their own media tells them anymore compared to any other point in the last century and they only have themselves to blame

Read the speech by Solzhenitsyn from 1978, in the thread below.
The craven nature of our media and it's reflection of the profit and political imperatives -as opposed to truth-telling or in-depth analysis- are succinctly addressed, pretty much...

Media maybe looking to regain some viewership, maybe?

Yep. Moral self-licensing.

Nope, they’re getting out in front of this while waiting on some ambiguous “evidence” showing how Trump was involved in the world wide spread of Covid.
They will run with that narrative 24/7 for months and months, just watch.

frick em. They created the monster, let the monster eat them.

I'm going to have to agree with others with the skepticism. I don't know who generates the talking points, but someone does. And these, and other, news outlets regurgitate them in both print and digital media.
Phrasing like "the beginning of the end", "walls are closing in", etc. were nearly ubiquitous and saturated the news in a coordinated fashion. Videos were made to mock this blatantly obvious behavior.
Now we have this apparent mea culpa on the Wuhan lab leak theory. Why? Did a wave of introspection sweep across the world of journalism? Was there an outbreak of integrity in the field? Did a spring of scruples erupt?
Doubtful.

We know many journalists have their own professional online groups where they discuss topics and their stances on things. LINK
What stikes me as curious is the timing of their almost mea culpas. What insanity is about to come up for which they desperately feel the need to lay groundwork of trust now?

They're still lying when they say "the evidence has changed". They just didn't want the evidence to be seen before. The truth will be drawn out over a long period of time so as to be less earth-shattering.

They know they are about to reap the whirlwind. Covid brought them into power and it will also start the downfall. The list of mea culpas will be long. Hunter’s laptop is next. Book it.
