Is that even what really happened?

The police used those resources and actually found the people that assaulted him. I'd say it pretty good police work. The brothers rolled on him and made the case against him, providing dates, times, and whereabouts that used minimal resources after that. The resources were already squandered. Chicagoans deserve a conclusion to the case.

Exactly. It’s like they think once the holes appeared and it became clear he made it up, the police should have just stopped and not make a case for a false claim.

This is why all taxpayer funding for NPR should be stopped immediately!

And, then he doubled down by going on National TV and being "angry and hurt" that he wasn't believed.

Chicagoans are upset and frustrated that Chicago police diverted critical resources away from real cases and victims to persecute Smollett for an insignificant false claim.

They should be frustrated...with Smollett.

NPR didn’t want CPD to try to find the MAGA attackers? How much of an uproar would that have caused to not put tons of resources into the investigation?

Sounds like they should be upset about the false claim that caused the police to divert resources.

I honestly thought that would be the take.

Then I remembered we're talmbout NPR, here

The superintendent specifically addressed this in his interview today. He said these are officers that investigate property crimes etc and all hate crimes receive the same attention. Also stated no resources were diverted from shooting violent crime etc

Yeah, it is all the fault of the CPD

Imagine the faux outrage if they had not investigated.

They meant to say Jussie forced them to take resources away from real crime to investigate his sham.

So in no uncertain terms NPR insists that at the moment the evidence turned toward the existence of a resource sucking hoax the CPD should have completely abandoned the matter. Makes sense.

And yet no word about the resources the police used to investigate the crime Smollett reported...

Exactly. That is how you out these people as hypocrites with an agenda. Where was the story of equal outrage over the resources diverted from real crimes, due to Smollett's false claim?

Oh my goodness. I misread your subject line. I take you at your word this was said on NPR but it was so far beyond what I considered to be possible that I initially thought it was about Chicagoans being upset about Smollett making a false complaint. But after scrolling through some comments, I was confused. I got it now ... and I'm depressed.

It needs to die.
Americans should not pay for government news organizations.
Keep everything else about public sponsered tv and radio and get rid of news and political reporting.
