That’s the thing— if the police would not have made a huge effort on the front end with tons of people and resources to investigat the initial allegations - they would have called the CPD racist for not pursuing the “attack” to the fullest extent.

NPR did NOT state that the Chicago police were "persecuting" Smollett. Your thread title is a bald-faced lie. Some clown on the street may have said that, but NPR definitely did not. On the contrary, it discussed the serious trouble he is facing.

This is why Smollett should pay the price for what he did . But this is what democrats do with government waste time and money . The Trump investigation is a total waste of time and resources too.

NPR absolutely did say that CPD took resources away from other cases to overzealously prosecute Smollett. And they said Chicagoans were frustrated by that action by CPD and they said such an act would further inflame tensions.

I agree. I have no problem with making a strong, public example of anyone that attempts to manipulate through premeditated deception. It’s bad enough when people are cowards and lie to cover themselves after an honest error. It’s FAR worse to calmly craft a lie in advance and then execute it.

I don't get it.
Police investigated the hate crime that smollett claimed happened. During their investigation into that "hate crime", they discovered that smollett made it all up. Why shouldn't the police hold smollett accountable?
