Are our elected leaders giving up their armed security that we taxpayers fund ?
Until that is part of the deal, there’s no need to discuss “sensible gun control “
They sacrifice nothing.
The Refreshments said it best. I’ve got the pistols so I’ll keetthe pesos. Yeah that seems fair
If you recall the original deal was to meet at the mission at midnight to divvy up there.

In all seriousness, if you are a college student I strongly recommend you work on your composition skills. Your writing is not good and you actually edited the OP so I have no idea how bad it was before that.
When you write you need to re-read your text and ask yourself:
Is each sentence clear and concise?
Is there a better way to construct the sentence?
Most posters don't need to do this because they are naturally good writers.

Lighten up, Frances. I’m not writing a thesis. This is a message board. Not a Shakespearean discussion group. You know that. And if I were a college student posting on a message board about this on a Friday night (when it was written) and not chasing arse and drinking beer, I think I’d need to start cutting myself. You know that as well. It’s just a nice dodge of a question that makes your brow furrowed. So either go (A) Grammar Police or (B) “shall not be infringed” guy.

'LSU alum wannabe' means you are either a college student or you're just posting random crap. My brow is not furrowed and my helpful suggestion is the essence of lightness. And I'm not dodging the question. I'm ignoring it because it's a stupid OP.

Ill answer your question.
I want all gun laws abolished because they are all unconstitutional. They are all an infringement. The only way to pass a legal gun law would be with an amendment.
But if we skip past that I would pass legislation to put people who commit violent crimes in jail for a minimum of 25 years with no parole. Any crime where a firearm is discharged means life in prison, no parole.
Removing the bad elements of society is the only way to keep them from repeating their crimes.
And I would pass legislation to be able to charge DA's and Judges who do not follow the law. DA's have too much discretion regarding charging someone. Many in democrat controlled cities wont charge people with gun crimes or if they do they let them out without any bail. Then these assholes commit more crimes while awaiting their day in court.
I would also love to have more money spent on mental illness programs. Most of these mass shooters have histories of mental problems but that just gets ignored.
All of these ideas would help, but what wont help is taking away the rights of law abiding citizens. Criminals will keep doing criminal things....

I’d be in favor of limiting the size of magazine to a max of ~10 bullets. I’d also be in favor of only allowing 18 year olds to buy shotguns and bolt action rifles. I still don’t think there’s anything that’s been proposed that could’ve prevented the shooter from buying his arsenal in Texas. He’ll pass any and all Background checks at his age with no record
So you think an emotional feel good reaction that you admit wouldn’t have changed anything is a good idea? You really should run for office, you’d fit right in with the other do nothing busybodies we have running the country.

I want to flip this discussion. What do guns rights folks suggest? Take guns off the table or put them on, you decide. Either way what’s an idea?
I’ve done this a couple of times but if we are going to use the Brady system then you need to address the fact there are no standards or consequences for those that are obligated to enter information into the NICs databases.
Other firearms guidelines that need to be addressed include mufflers and barrel lengths. We are the only 1st world country that insists that mufflers on firearms turn everyone into mafia hitmen. It’s time to modernize our stance on mufflers and make them common firearms accessories. They do not silence your firearms any more than they silence your car. The other is barrel lengths. The Bonnie and Clyde era rules governing barrel length are outdated and misunderstood. The idea that we have to do something because that’s the way it’s also been done is silly. Rifles now must be 16.25 inches long and shotguns must be 18.25 inches long for some arbitrary reason or you have to pay a 200 for a Special Purpose Stamp. But if you swap the standard stock for one marketed as a brace you can call your rifle or shotgun a pistol. Or you can buy a rifled barrel on your shotgun and it magically becomes a 12 gauge rifle and can be 16.25 inches long. Braces have shown that the fears around short barreled rifles and shotguns were unfounded and can be removed from NFA guidance.

Why, you can change a mag in one second? Tell me what this will do?
When the cops don’t enter the room for an hour and a half, this could make the difference between shooting 1000 rounds and shooting 1020 rounds.
Think about it!

Thank you! Until we make a prison sentence particularly unpleasant, prison is NOT a deterrent! Bring back the chain-gangs. 1-hot meal a day, etc. Make it a place people try to stay out of.

Suggest? Again, if a serious answer can be made? I’m not here to suggest anything. I’ve read this “room” for years and nothing will play here. But, the status quo can’t be your answer? Right?
All that happens here is a lib pipes up, and gets shite on. Or one of the regulars on the board finds a dumb Beto-esque quote. Which is red meat to feed this crowd.

If you're referring to guns in general, there's NOTHING that any law can do pertaining to guns themselves. WE MUST IDENTIFY AND ELIMINATE THE P-E-R-S-O-N MISUSING THEM!!!!!

If you're a college grad then you are an alum. That indicates you are stupid.

Wrong. My response had nothing to do with guns. Therefore, I ignored it. This indicates that you are stupid.
Also....I didn't critique your grammar as you said. You don't know the difference between grammar and writing style. This would indicate that you're stupid.

This all just indicates that you are a prick. A prick who can't help but be a prick. You don't answer the question. You are everything bad about this board. Perhaps you are a mental midget and have nothing to offer. Then just make a smug comment and go away feeling superior.

The Constitution was not written to guarantee personal safety. It was written to warn the government against infringing upon rights, such as the right to self-defense, against tyranny in particular.
Rights come with responsibility and risk.

This. We have certain demographics that view doing time as a badge of honor. Means the shite is too easy for them.
