The answer to that obviously depends on which nations you are talking about.

Could go the Catholic route. Get an annulment. Marriage never even happened. You get a clean bill of spiritual health and now free to screw and marry your secretary, dental assistant or paralegal. Guilt free. All after 15-20 years of marriage and 3 kids.

I agree in part. I think a lot of people get married when they aren’t really ready. Then they bail when it gets a little rough (which it will).

One of the biggest predictors of children living in poverty is single parents.

The left loves the destruction of the nuclear family because it creates an entire army of people dependent on government for everything. It also destroys fatherhood. The nuclear family unit provides stability financially and socially and makes you not need the government, so naturally the left wants to destroy it.

The sad part is the anti religious folks on the libertarian right who worship “freedom” above all else buy right into the lie that marriage is old fashioned and not needed anymore, and just a contract like everything else. How is that working out for us?

What he’s selectively not telling you is that adultery is an acceptable reason for divorce according to the Bible:
quote:

“But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” – Matthew 5:32, NIV

quote:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” – Matthew 5:27-28, NIV

The reason Jesus taught in parables among the people and not pounding a lectern in the temple like the Pharisees is so that people would not miss the message because of the delivery. He was the greatest teacher ever.

Self-righteous zealots whose actual Biblical knowledge is about an inch deep do more harm than good in bringing people to Jesus.

We've streamlined the divorce process and made court outcomes highly predictable for all parties involved. Everyone knows the likely outcome well before any decisions are finalized. This setup disproportionately places most of the risk on the man, and as societal pressures diminish, men may become less inclined to take that risk.

Christians could potentially address this issue through social pressure, but it has become widely accepted even within religious communities, including the Christian faith. An example of successful peer pressure in maintaining marriages can be seen within Christian communities like the Amish in the United States where the divorce rate is less than 10%.

Divorce? People aren't getting married in the first place. Illigitimacy is what destroyed the family. That and the government enabling that behavior through handouts.

We have too many who don't follow the Commandments. We can be a Judeo/Christian nation and still have reprobates. Simply following the Commandments would make one's life so much more stress free. I'm not overly religious and cannot quote the Bible, but I do my absolute best to follow those. They are, basically, common sense.

From the 45 steps to implement Communism in America:

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

Marriages are actually up and divorces down since Covid. Apparently having to put up with each other while quarantined taught people some lessons.

It’s true that people are marrying later which honestly is probably a good idea for most folks.

Seems like the your white / east asian nations don't need religion to contribute to a (generally) healthy society.

You got me….that’s EXACTLY what I was saying. Now be sure and tithe your 10% of pretax income. Those streets of gold have a few potholes.

Luke 16:18: "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."

When I was growing up, I was told that sex was a gift from God for married people. You can see the importance in the Bible. No premarital sex, no extramarital sex, punishment for those who do. If sex is so important and a gift from God, shouldn't this go both ways logically?

A guy told me that his wife hasn't put out since his kid was born. The kid turns 14 soon. If sex is so important that it should only be done within a marriage, then shouldn't a man be allowed to divorce a woman who doesn't perform her wifely duties? Should a good Christian be prevented from enjoying God's gift simply because his wife is frigid?

Logically, it should work both ways. If you can get a biblical divorce because your spouse sleeps around, then you should be able to get one for a sexless marriage. The problem with taking the Bible literally, and not thinking beyond what is written, is that no book can possibly cover every possible scenario in detail.

What if your wife doesn't sleep around but does get an abortion without your knowledge? The Bible doesn't mention that, but common sense should tell you that God would be OK with you leaving her.

How has divorce affected the population who isn't even getting married and creating social pathologies following that choice?

Divorces are up because women have put in places of authority that society has told them they should be. Deep down many don't want that and are unhappy. They will never admit it.

It's really unfortunate they are required to work and try to raise a family. The 'women can have it all' mentality is not healthy for MOST women, not all.
