There was never any plan to install barriers to block sidewalk access. That would certainly violate ADA standards anyway.

JFC, you stagger them so access for cars is denied and pedestrians can still get through.

frick me.

Google meridian rapid defense systems for an example.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Here.

They did but he used the sidewalk, there are videos showing it.

Don’t know about the new ones they are installing in the future, but the old barriers didn’t extend to the sidewalk. They would not have stopped this guy.

How does that prove that I’m wrong? There were never plans to block sidewalk access at bourbon and canal regardless of what goes on in Jacksonville.

That’s the point.

There should have been plans to secure the sidewalks. I don’t know where you came up with the ADA bullshite. There’s no need to block the sidewalk from pedestrians. Just cars.

Hell, even the Kansas State Fair uses them.

This is a failure. A typical democrat failure.

Ok so what do you think the bollards would have accomplished? You think he still would have launched an attack? I legitimately don’t understand the fixation on the bollards if you believe he would have found a way to wreak havoc anyway.

Oh look, another stupid leftists coming in to defend the idiots he votes for and champions.

As usual, you refused to read the thread. Great work!

As usual, you have no clue what you are talking about.

They showed us, LIVE, how they work and blocked sidewalks. Then told us they didn't know they had them.

You are an evil piece of garbage. Just admit you are happy a bunch of hicks were killed. It would be a better look than continuing to lie and knight for your evil ilk.

People who live in New Orleans are stating facts about the area in New Orleans this happened in and you just want to call us names. Even if these things were in a warehouse somewhere, they weren’t going to stop this attack. You seem to forget that he had a gun that he shot indiscriminately into the crowd as well.

This could have happened just as easily on LSU’s campus during tailgating. There are no bollards protecting the perimeter of the campus.

This thread is full of people who hate New Orleans because democrats and are just going off about anything regardless of if it even makes sense.

The squad car at the intersection of Canal & Bourbon wasn't touched by the attacker's truck. You can clearly see, it didn't move. Yes, he did drive up on the sidewalk, but the parked car wasn't covering the entire street either.

YouTube time stamped link

And there are people on the sidewalk who didn't get hit as the truck drove past.

You are asking why DEI programs are used to benefit black women? Do you not know what DEI is?

You are full of shite. I grew up in New Orleans. I used to have an apartment in the French Quarter. I know exactly what the old barriers were like. They did not extend to the sidewalks. I commented that the old barriers did not extend to the sidewalks. This is objective fact. Take your drooling idiocy elsewhere.

And just so we are clear, the old barriers are shown Here, WWL TV report

I’m hesitant to support a 4cubbies post, especially since her hardened leftward turn circa 2020, but she’s correct here.

However, I have a caveat and need information. I don’t know where the yellow portable 90 deg flip-up metal barriers came from that they hurriedly placed around the FQ the day after the attack.

Are those owned by the city and were they available to be used while the bollards are being upgraded? Of course, even if they were, hindsight is 20/20.

I think the absolute clown show of the N.O. leadership class is a depressing and horrifying joke. But this goes beyond Cantrell, Chief Granny, and Special Agent Nose Piercing. I would not expect those people to know the availability of backup bollards.

Those people should be delegating those tasks to competent deputy chiefs and deputy mayors. The whole city is run by incompetence from top to bottom. And yes, a large part of that can be laid at the feet of DEI, and the ideology that supports those policies going back decades, and the laziness of the citizens, and the history of corruption, and the Democratic Party in general from defending, shielding, and supporting these methods for decades.

I actually think that we could have done much worse than hiring Chief Granny just a little over a year ago. The truth is that she was among the best candidates that applied. Most competent police chiefs and deputy chiefs wanted NO PART of taking the reins of the NOPD which was under a consent decree and still an agency mired in a culture of incompetence.

I say all that even though I’m still a New Orleans resident of 40 years, and still love my home city. It pains me to say those things.

It is impossible to drive down the sidewalk further than where he went around the cop car.

If the old ones or any of them would have been used in the street, he would have only gone a block at most.

What things specifically?

You have no idea about how to secure large crowds.

Your government doesn’t either.
