Some of the men that I knew growing up, who were serious about raising hunting dogs, would do away with them for a lot less.
I knew a man that would kill a whole litter of his beagle puppies for being born at the wrong time of year.
He had some bad arse beagles though, when it came to hunting.

They feel a need to appear strong and tough and will either do or say things that give them that appearance.
