Not the ones I know. They are screaming to keep schools closed.

My argument to them is, my wife and I have been working throughout this entire pandemic. We work along side others all the time. Only recently were we required to wear masks :sigh:. If I don't work, I don't get paid. So, either get your arse back to work, or don't get paid!

We don't have the capability to homeschool our kids, or do virtual learning. They need to get back in the classroom. Luckily for us we send our kids to private school, and they are fully reopening with the Phase 2 guidelines.

Probably more.

If there isn’t interaction, why not just have five teachers broadcasting to students from 50 classes or more?

Ok, should’ve said...”most teachers that I’ve spoken with.” It’s quite a few in my district. How many have you spoken with about the situation...or are you just rolling with the National narrative that teachers are cowering for their lives while clamoring for a raise?

Private schools here are chomping at the bit. They lost some population when the 2008 downturn happened. This is an opportunity to gain it back.

BLM and a great deal of people in power in this country want broken homes and do not want that kid to have any stability.

Actually, online teaching for, lets say the sixth grade, requires ONE teacher nationally. Everyone can listen to a lesson that is permanently on line forever, possibly a few options. The Dept of Education can FINALLY actually do something worthwhile and number lessons from K to the last lesson of 12, high school. BOOM. No more teachers needed. You can't progress to the next lesson until you master the previous one. SO EASY. You want your government teaching you? There you go !

I think you’re right. We know a lot of teachers. I would say that well over 80% have some mild concerns with managing all the restrictions but are very ready to return. I would say less than 10% are being very vocal about their safety and trying to use their leverage to get a more personally favorable position.

Long time lurker for news and SEC info...since before there was an “SEC” rant....
I had to create an account just to say this...

This may be the dumbest most I’ll informed thread in the history of this website, and that’s saying a lot...

Yes, I’m a teacher, I’m a Trump supporter and a conservative. I teach lecture and online for high school through university level... and I have realized two things.

#1 - MOST OF YOU, especially OP have no clue what you’re are talking about nor have any idea of how the academic system works.

#2 - MOST OF YOU Should log off Tigerdroppings and open a book once in a while and become informed before spouting nonsense you know nothing about. Stop listening to every Facebook Karen and participate in real life discussions. Volunteer at your school with teachers instead of bashing them.

Lastly, teaching online is .... nah, never mind you won’t understand nor discuss it...

My one and only ever post..back to lurking....

It would require effort and they aren’t paid enough for that.

So a teacher who wants to work should drive up to an empty campus and sit there?
Again, you’re blaming the wrong people.
And if your school district is as lousy as it sounds, I’d move.

Online teaching for high school and college has very little relevance to online teaching at the elementary level.

I had this argument on FB yesterday with my teacher cousin. Her position is "I refuse to take the risk." I almost came unglued. She expects the capitalists in the private sector to take the risk to create the products that she needs to live and create the wealth for the government to tax to pay her salary, but SHE, the high-and-mighty teacher, shouldn't be required to take the risks. frick all that. I'm a cop and it's been business as usual. The taxpayers are paying me my same wage, so they deserve the same services.

No they are not, Louisiana has 3 teacher unions teachers can join.

Louisiana Federation of Teachers
Louisiana Association of Educators
Louisiana Professional Educators of Louisiana

They make their pitch to teachers each year but they don't have the power of unions else where. I know very few teachers who join or stay once they see there are few perks anymore.

Oh jeez, now I can’t offer my opinion without doing a citywide personal survey of teachers ? Look, my daughter, who is a senior at a public school in Baton Rouge, basically had half her teachers check out in March. One teacher went COMPLETELY incognito. Shame on me for drawing conclusions from that and the endless public statements I’m hearing from “ educators”.

The kids need to be back in school and teachers need to suck it up and get their asses back to work like everyone else.
