I don't know about that contract argument. Contracts were an aspect of many businesses that were shutdown during this thing (gyms etc), so that isn't a new concept.

I have a rental house I inherited when my grandmother died. So now my renter can just opt out of paying? I’m still on the hook for maintenance and property taxes? That’s bullshite man

Its all bullshite.

I paid the property taxes, the notes on some capital projects, and maintenance on my business for the months I was forced to be closed with no revenue at all.

Thats what we are all doing.

Its definitely not the same feeling business to rent out houses you own but its still business that the government is gonna frick over.

It’s a BS move but good politically for Trump. Land lords are not going to vote for Biden over this unless they were already going to vote for him.

I thought I heard something like that. Besides that, is there anyone who can explain how any losses won't be a factor come tax season, i.e. deductibles?

By the way...here's a link that provides a state by state description of bans on evictions.

May be true but it’s irrelevant. Government should not have the power to decide who pays what in my personal property.

I rescind my comment that you seem reasonably smart, seeing that you base your entire voting decision on a single issue like a five-month moratorium on evictions.

In all of this, somebody is getting screwed. There are too many specific examples that can't be fixed with a broad brush. He has to do something because Congress surely isn't. The Dems packed a bunch of bullshite (non covid) in their proposal and I'm glad he called them out.

At least he's not sitting on his arse and he has the people in his interests.

So you’re going to vote for the party controlled by people like Deblasio, Bernie and AOC who think evections should be permanently banned along with property rights all together.

Mortgage payments aren’t the only expense landlords have. Also, the income from rentals is what some landlords use to find their own life...feed their kids, pay their bills.

YES HE DID!!!!!!!

However, there are way too many brainwashed or braindead people on here crying about how Trump just doesn't care about the owners of rental properties.

They CHOOSE to totally ignore that.

It’s a mistake. A lot of the people getting evicted weren’t going to vote for Trump either way. He’s just pissing off people who are going to vote for him.
When it's our guy, we're willing to allow any tactic against any of our supposed principles. Did you miss the memo? Also, it's OK to set the astounding precedent of an Executive Order doing the spending job of Congress.

There is residential and commercial landlord assistance and tax credits for those unfortunate tenants who can’t pay their rent. Big win for restaurants too

LOL, the only reason you poor twits are bitching about it is because Trump did it. If Obama or any democrat did the same you would be sucking that dick to the balls. Congress wouldn't do their job so Trump had to do it for them. frick them and people who think like you.

It doesn’t matter if they were gonna vote for him or not, it was the wrong thing to do. Landlords have to be able to evict. And that’s the wrong way to think about it anyways, it shouldn’t matter if they would vote for him. Govern based on what’s the right thing to do, not whether or not it buys you votes.

How do you know this? I read the EO and it directs the secretary to provide assistance but what are we talking about here? I have tenants that collectively owe me tens of thousands. I’ve been and continue to pay for them to live because I can’t evict them. I’d like a few specifics.
