Why?

As an example of why you don't vote Democrat.

I had a friend that just came back from NYC . Everything you hear on FoxNews is true. Lots of homeless people, smells like poop, and pee. Rats everywhere. Graffiti all over the place. Residents and people that work in NYC are fed up.

Hasn't it been this way forever?

I hear like weed too.

I have some young nephews/nieces that went to New Orleans and the smell of weed was the most lasting impression of the trip. Never wanting to go again.

Unless you are a stoner, the stench of weed in cities will leave people not wanting to go back as it essentially tells people all they need to know about the people and places future.

Was in NYC two weeks ago. Same as it ever was. About to be back there at the end of the month. Your friend must be a master of hyperbole.

I spend some time there-see homeless people- but in a city of 8M- it is all relative. It is a big, vibrant city.

I also watch Fox News-went to San Francisco- damn clean city and did not see any homeless people-could it be Fox sensationalizes it

This is the way it was BEFORE Mamdani. It’s only going to get worse.

I think the weed smell drowns out everything else. It’s unbelievable.

New York is done never to return. Once you embrace communism, you never really return. I think NYC going full blown communist may be the first step in pseudo-balkanization of the country.

I live outside of NY city and if you really want to fix these community problems, you have to tax unrealized capital gains, which has to include IRAs and 401Ks. No one needs $500K+ in retirement. There should also be a tax penalty if you sell any assets like Stock or your home below the original purchase price adjusted for inflation. If we can get taxes on this with rates in excess of 90%, redistribute the taxes to sewage and water boards, then we will start seeing vibrant collectives again

I sense sarcasm

There's stupid and then there's really stupid...
This is the first post I've seen here that is both!

IRAs and 401k, 457b, etc. etc. etc. WILL be subject to tax when withdrawn or inherited.

Furthermore, who the F are you to tell someone how much of THEIR money they need in THEIR retirement???

Stop smoking that powerful cannabis, it has damaged your mind enough already...

I know what is not a lie. I have been to San Fran and it was not what Fox News shows. Yes, go to the Tenderloin district and you will see the homeless, but most parts I visited were nice and clean, unlike downtown Denver a few years back that was trash strewn and full of homeless.
