How does 600 dollars a year (12 times 50) work out to one million in that amount of time?

FV of an annuity.

No wonder everything is shite when you guys are in charge. You can only do one thing at a time, so nothing gets done.

Your opinions make a lot of sense now.

With this logic, giving tax breaks for children is socialism.

How does the fund start, Einstein?

$1,000 from the Treasury. Cash from the government.

You think Trump is finishing the things he started?

Which one?

Thanks. When I looked at the site for a short time I didn't see any tax benefit. I'll check again.

Why stop at 55? Using his same math wouldn't it be more than 2 million by 65? (I get it, still won't be much by todays standards).

As someone was mentioning earlier, people do not seem to understand compounding or really investing at all. My wife is a pharmacist and over the years has gone from chain to chain and most her 401ks have been rolled into a managed IRA which is doing really well. However, she recently told me that with her current job she wanted to just put the money directly in the IRA from her checking account and not the 401k. I was like why the hell would do that they match 5%? And she was like " 5% of what"? I just shook my head and told her to stick with the 401K unless she filled it up.

Can the gov’t please get out of personal financial matters of the household? Cut taxes and cut spending. I’ll take care of myself, thank you.

although this is driven by the private sector, govt will slowly dig their hands in it and it will fall apart or be exploded by congress when it grows.

The lack of urgency on cutting out waste is so disappointing.
