New theory on Wuhan Virus being floated by epidemiologists

It’s now believed that Covid-19 was in China much earlier than reported. Perhaps as early as mid October.
Part of this is based on the major (very major) spike in influenza cases in Washington state.
Also, there was an unusually high number of flu-like respiratory cases which tested negative for influenza throughout the country.
If this is theory is correct, Wuhan Bat-Eater Plague has likely already made its way through our population.
The 2019-2020 flu season has seemed particularly bad. Perhaps this was driven - at least in part - by Wuhan.

That is actually incredibly reassuring.
It means we haven’t seen anything significantly out of the ordinary, dispute the new virus.

I don't want to be insulting, but it is almost a given that the disease was present and infecting folks in China before Halloween.
I don't know any reasonable person who doesn't concede this is likely. I think the dates it spread from China are murkier, but I think it was here by Thanksgiving. Hell, I think I had it.

Which makes China look even worse than they already do.

Link please? I was with friends tonight who were in Asia in November, came back to the US, got sick with symptoms similar to the coronavirus, which lasted for 5 days with one really bad day, and then got better. They swear that they have already had the coronavirus

Possibly. Should be pretty easy to test though right? Apparently scientists recently isolated antibodies for covid-19, so we should find large swaths of the population with covid-19 antibodies but no active virus anymore if that is correct.

Dude.
Links please.
I’m arguing w some asshat who is telling me China found out about this in December.

I can’t tell you who I work for, but I was checking out our diagnosis data for the year and there are many more diagnosis codes for respiratory-related events this season than usual.

Look how awful the last three years are. The odds of that have to be astronomical.

I kid you not I have never had the respiratory infection like I had in January and February of this year. I went around for several weeks saying I’ve never not been able to clear out my chest with a virus like I have this year. Probably not Wuhan but it does make me wonder .

I don’t have any links.
I have been discussing the issue with some healthcare folks as we try to ascertain the impact to our business and plan for needs in our various markets.
I would imagine you’ll be seeing this information in the news by midweek.
Edit: Depending on how willing the MSM is to piss of China.

I’ve posted this already, but it bears repeating. I know of 20 people that have been diagnosed with the flu, despite testing negative, within the past 45 days. All recovered in 1-5 days and all had a fever lasting 1/2-1 full day.

I’ve been saying this for 2 weeks now. Check my post history.
My wife is a teacher and has been struggling with a dry cough and occasional low grade fever for 3-4 weeks and just can’t shake it. Went to the doctor twice and they said bronchitis. We’ve joked the last week or so that she has the Wuhan Flu, but all jokes aside it wouldn’t be the most surprising thing if she did. I haven’t had the first symptom yet

Same. Right around Christmas for me. Family had it too. We all were negative for the flu.

Yah so I had this shite then and caught it in either Seattle or Hawai’i - was sick after both trips

I honestly think this will be over by mid-April or so. I know the experts have differing opinions on the effect warmer weather will have, but I believe the warmer temps will knock this stuff out. Some experts agree with that, too.
