Close. One of the two is actually the first cousin of one their parents. What you described is 3rd cousins.
I don’t know their ages. But usually there is a generation (or close) between you and you second cousins.
3rd cousins should be much closer in age.

I had a couple of 1st cousins I woud have gladly got in their drawers.They lived out of town,saw them once or twice a year it wasn’t Ike we were super close.I would have Iiked to get close to them,nekkid.
As far as 2nd cousins marriage between them is legal in all states except Kentucky and Nevada.They share only 3.125 %of their DNA.
