I sent this to my wife. True story...
She buys a lot of their shite. Razors, cream, etc.
She bought some this weekend at Target and hasn't opened it yet. She found the receipt and is returning all of it.
No more Gilette in this house. LOLOLOLOL

By attributing all wrongdoing to men, that automatically creates a victim class en masse of one of the two scientifically and traditionally recognised genders. That's the most anti-feminist thing possible.
I have to agree in full.

When girls fight, they DO NOT become friends. The opposite is typically true for boys. Boys challenge one-another and scrap FOR FUN! Fighting is how boys earn respect from one-another. Fighting is simply the retaliation of last resort for girls.
Men pick-on one-another often for camaraderie. It's a joke designed to see if another boy has the humility to not take it personally and the creativity and humor to come up with a comeback. It's not meant to insult or destroy, but rather to bond. Women insult a person directly ONLY to destroy. Men only do so rarely.
Spot on. You can always tell guys who have a good rapport with each other because they're cracking jokes at each other's expense all the time. Females, on the other hand, are typically fake cordial to each other in person or in public then quickly backstab each other. And when a female fights a female, it's usually with intent to kill or maim. Different mindset entirely from guys who usually fight for pride/respect.
It's probably an evolutionary distinction more than anything. Women are usually weaker so they can ill afford to be upfront about whom they disdain. Men tend to only earn the respect of others (male and female) based upon what they can affect physically.

Gillette is pulling a "Nike".

Oh I disagree. Gillette kept on selling new tech (3 blades, 5 blades, 7 blades, vibrating). And this is how they got people to use their product vs. competitors. The thing is there is a limit to that and all the competitors have caught up on the tech innovations. Now they are saying - ok, we are the same but we do it better and for that you will pay double or triple.

This has not been my experience with brand managers. I have a former boss who was a brand manager for P&G and he would never make a decision like this without figuring it out. Maybe the P&G way hasn't trickled to Gillette, but generally they are relentless data junkies and hyper focused on the market.

i personally think the ad was likely made to generate press coverage of gillette, and not to convince consumers to buy their products. Get their increasingly irrelevant name out there.

Once I saw that woman from the young Turks on there I closed it.

Women bond by making fun of OTHER women behind their backs.
Men bond by making fun of EACH OTHER to their face.
Men fight because fighting is fun. Seriously, how many of you as kids pretended to be professional wrestlers and tried to suplex each other on a trampoline? I know my friends and I did. The intent was never to harm, and the fun was over as soon as someone got hurt. Boys don't usually fight to harm their fellow boys. They're not doing it to assert dominance, destroy others' self-esteem, or any of that other girl-fight bull shite. That's how boys play. They play by rough-housing.
Women simply "play" in different ways. The problem is that women in schools assume that boys and girls fight for the same reasons or at least with the same intentions. Women never fight physically unless they are trying to straight up murder another person. All their fighting is done through teasing or passive aggression. This is because women can never be direct about ANYTHING!
The real problem is toxic femininity. Women need to learn how to express themselves directly and honestly to each other. They need to learn that the success of others isn't a personal failing of themselves. They need to learn that the best way to get what you want isn't by tearing someone down, but by learning from that other person you envy. They need to learn to collaborate to compete rather than snipe to destroy. They need to learn that their social value isn't defined by what girls who are mean to them say it should be. Their worth isn't defined by possessing what others covet. They should never fall for the lie that talking = intimacy and emotional openness. Unless that talking contains substance, it is nothing but useless jibber-jabber. Women need to learn to build each other up instead of shame and torment each other. Women need to learn that the appearance of perfection isn't nearly as important as the lessons learned from failure. They need to learn from imperfection as opposed to simply covering it up.
When boys fight, if the loser defends himself and stands his ground, even knowing he's going to take a beating, he earns respect, even in defeat. I can tell you first hand that I gained a lot of friends losing fights growing up because I was easily the scrawniest, tiniest kid in the class, but I refused to back down from a challenge. Women need to learn to deal with rejection, learn how to lose with honor. The only dishonor is in giving up and hiding, which is what damn near all women do when fighting about EVERYTHING.
Basically, women need to learn from boys how to tolerate one-another, because they're sure as shite not learning that stuff from destroying each other.

Wow. This has got to be one of the worst marketing move I have ever seen.

SJW’s are evil and scum of the earth.

It paints men as demons that need to be restrained and reformed. Not exactly a prudent strategy given that your entire customer base is men. The commercial throws out stereotypes such as "boys will be boys" and labels innocuous behavior like approaching a woman in public as immoral. Seriously, watch the video - about midway through, a guy sees an attractive woman walking down the sidewalk and decides to approach her. His friend holds him back saying "Not cool, not cool". Telling your girlfriend to smile for a photo is apparently problematic as well. As is clarifying statements made by your female colleague during a meeting. The like/dislike ratio is hilarious
WTF was that garbage? Somebody needs to tell Gillette that it's not smart to take jabs at the target demographic for your product because it's the PC thing to do. It's a freaking razor commercial. Show a dude shaving his face. We can do without the SJW subtext.

Well, yes, but the consumer link with more blades ("technology") is quality. They're effectively the same thing in men's shaving.
Even beyond marketing campaigns, I do (still) think their products are superior. DSC and Harry's kind of suck. P&G has done a poor, poor job in educating the customer.

I have close friends, classmates, and so forth who are in product management and brand management for P&G. Without divulging too much, I also have very close friends who are now working for them and were not just a few months ago, if you catch the drift. They are typically very smart and fairly savvy, but that company is certainly not immune to stupid decision-making, and many of them will tell you that. They have been especially prone when it comes to their flagship brands, and in particular, they have botched the hell out of the Gillette acquisition.

If so, a desperate move. I'd absolutely love to see the forecasted economics of this. They're liable to GE themselves right out of their heritage if they continue.

Just watched commercial, have used Gillette deodorant for 10+ years and will be switching now.
Anyone have a recommendation for something comparable to their gel deodorant?
