Kyrie is a goofball but I hope he gives Brooklyn and the NBA a big middle finger.

He cannot play in half of their games, and that isn't their call, it is the governments.

They are doing the right thing for their team.

They are still going to pay him.

From the link in the OP...

quote:

The NBA has confirmed that salaries will be withheld from players who are unable to play due to their unvaccinated status being against local ordinances. Irving is at risk of losing half of his $34 million salary for Brooklyn home games.

How?

If he could play in the away games it seems like they are hurting the team with the suspension.
You're either all in or all out.

This. He's nutty enough to stick with this. Sometimes you need folks with no fear to get the focus on the issue

Kyrie has FU money. He is making a point. I also wouldn’t count out him eventually getting paid.

It is part of the Vaccine Mandate issued by DeBlasio to my knowledge.

Oh yea ok. And what is Deblasio going to do if they play Kyrie? Shut down the Nets?

The bottom line is if any large company or organization told Deblasio or any other dictator to shove it up their arse they wouldn’t do anything.

They are either complicit in this bullshite or complete pussies.

I don't give two shits about the NBABLM, but this seems like it would be a perfect opportunity for a player to have his lawyer draft a contract between the team forcing the vaccination, making them responsible for any and all adverse effects of the forced vaccination, commensurate with the career earning potential for said athlete. It's what I would do.

It would seem to me that the terms of his contract changed. Unless it says in his contract that he has to be vaccinated.

If i was Kyrie I would make the case that I would have never signed with the Nets if I would have known they would make me get vaccinated.

Therefore it seems like a breach of contract on the Nets.

NBAPA has said they won’t uphold fines or suspensions based on local ordinances, as opposed to agreements between the NBA and the players.

Kyrie’s going to get the full support of the player’s association over this.

I don't care for Kyrie, but I support him in this. Jonathan Isaac and Orlando should try to acquire him.

I like Jonathan Isaac and his great press conference and interview on the vax issue. There is no rebuttal to his argument.

He has called out the insanity of having to use a different locker room and not being able to eat with his team, but then gets on the court with his team and the opposing team. It is idiocy.

I was wondering when and how the state of the Aussies would come to fruition here.

The key is how much is Kyrie liked among his fellow players? Bc like the SW pilots/crew they hold the power. If the players have some sort of “sick out” on opening night then shite will hit the fan.

Is there a link to this story? It's awesome news if that is the case.

They split the baby.

Since he was eligible to play away games but not home games, he gets paid for away games.

The team paying him for away games supposedly limits his ability to contest this.

That being said, the Nets are supposed to be one of the favorites in the East this year. They have effectively given him a season off at half pay if this holds. That is a lot of money and cap space tied in a player they refuse to play.

I’ve found out further news since then that contradicted what I said.

Original news was that the player association wouldn’t let the teams fine or suspend players based on local ordinances.

How the league and the Nets got around this was telling him not to show up then paying him game checks for any away game where he would have been eligible to play.

Since they aren’t costing him any money past what he would get if he was active, the argument is that he can’t appeal this.
