Netflix is now having to compete with its content. Netflix content is shite.

At some point, these streaming services will have to be consolidated. This is similar to what we saw with satellite radio and what we'll see with the online sports betting apps.

The major studios/networks now realize their old content is worth something so they are merely copying netlfix while holding on to their own content. Of course, they can throw money at their streaming services.

Netflix will have a hard time competing against them as they figure it out. It doesn't have a subsidy as does Prime either.

Good point. I don't see them being around long term.

Literally: Thanks, Obama.

And Susan rice, and other democrat ghouls. they were/are all up in Netflix. They saw it as the dominant emerging media outlet, and they scrambled to take control of it, and direct its content.

That is creepy as shite, and I'm thrilled that they are getting financially sodomized today.

ETA: down 36.5% now.

Netflix subscriptions cost money. Times are tight. The trend now is that most people are just tiktoking and watching youtubes and social media bullshite on their phones. Society's attention span is getting shorter and shorter. I assume all paid streaming subscriptions will hurt in the current economy.

It really doesn’t help that you start nickel and diming families for password sharing. If their service was what it used to be, $7-$9, no one would go out of their way to cancel and just let it stay on auto-pay, but at $17-$20, people will cancel it if they don’t use it. You factor in terrible content and the rise of other services heavily competing to gain market share, this is what you get. Netflix once cared and delivered a high quality service, shutting out DVD rentals and blockbuster’s attempts at streaming, but they got lazy and liberal, now HBO, Prime (which most people have because they use amazon services as a whole), and YouTubeTV is all around better services.

I can't cancel mine. (Of course that's because I don't have one to cancel)

I canceled 5 years ago. When I want to watch something I hop on my sisters account (She is a lefty).

The “Netflix and chill” phenomenon is likely damaged due to increased prices and Covid fricking up people’s hookup options.

People watched everything on Netflix they wanted to watch over the last 2 years and the little new content they’ve added is… meh.

I’m cheap so I stream through my fathers account since I don’t watch movies often and it’s been fair game to share accounts. That’s supposedly coming to an end and going to start charging an extra $2.99 to original purchaser for each shared account. Told my pops not to bother their content sucks and doesn’t update enough with stuff worth watching.
It’s not surprising to lose value in the most popular streaming service because lots of people signed up during COVID lockdowns and people are out enjoying life again not watching TV near as much. Also if their model doesn’t change to inject some life back into quality programming and more quality movies it won’t make another 5 years let alone 10.
They will be the MySpace and others will pass them up.

Watched a lot of TV when I had COVID.

Netflix is best by far. Apple is the best for the money($4.99) and you only need to subscribe a couple months a year to watch there content. No way Disney. It has Marvel and Star Wars for adults most of it is kid stuff. Amazon is alright, but it has to many foreign shows and movies and you can get some of it free on IMDb, but IMDb does have commercials.

It appears that's the trajectory they're heading. We'll think of Netflix as the old Blockbuster in 10 years.

Netflix was revolutionary in popularizing streaming over cable. But since that time virtually every other media company has caught up with their own streaming services. The initial advantage Netflix had has been diminished, if not almost eliminated. Thus, they have to compete with their content...which is mostly crap

Produce and air weird arse shite, then wonder why nobody wants to pay to watch Obama or Soft Kiddie porn.

Then you have missed out

HBO Max is so far ahead of those it might not even be considered a race. HBO Max is William "Lia" Thomas against women.

Agreed. HBO has been making good stuff for about 20 years and constantly coming out with new, original stuff with very high production value. We share passwords with my step-daughter. Netflix is there for me to watch anytime.....and it rarely gets pulled up. Doing a rewatch of Breaking Bad now, only because my kid hasn't ever seen it.

Too bad their apps are absolute crap.

Hard to navigate. Constantly losing my place in series when I switch screens. Incomplete listings that force you to search for titles.

Plus Netflix is over $20 a month now

I just pay for the opportunity to scroll
Through and constantly say there’s nothing worth watching and switch to a different app
