N.C. hospital system fires about 175 workers in one of the largest-ever mass terminations

The mass termination of unvaccinated hospital system employees is among the largest of its kind to date. More than 150 health-care workers who did not comply with a vaccine mandate at Houston Methodist — one of the first health systems to require the coronavirus shots — were fired or resigned in June after a federal judge upheld the policy. ChristianaCare, a Delaware health system, announced this week that 150 employees were fired for not adhering to its vaccine mandate.
The move by the Winston-Salem-based system comes as some health-care workers continue to push back on employers’ vaccine mandates after President Biden announced sweeping coronavirus vaccine mandates this month. The president ordered all businesses with more than 100 employees to require their workers to be immunized or face weekly testing, noting that he would also require most health-care facilities that accept Medicare or Medicaid funding to vaccinate their employees.
Props to these 175 people. My sis has a doctorate in nursing at teaches nurses - she will not be getting the vaccine- she has seen the effects of them day after day.

Of course, now all of these systems will scream about how they are being "overwhelmed" by Covid.

Hopefully the courts will give this BS a second look.

Must not be that strained at the hospital

And shortly we will hear that this company’s facilities are out of beds. Because they just fired the fricking workers keeping them going.

175 unemployment claims being filed as well as separate lawsuits against he hospital who, by the way have employee handbooks that don’t talk about this.

Hospitals overwhelmed with covid ? Fire or layoff health care workers who man those hospitals.
Now staff shortages are further exasperated which leads to can’t accept increased number of patients. Now from this aspect…where is the concern for the people’s health/safety?

Here comes the “rationing” of care they’ve been salting the ignorant with for months. Part of the plan

Is firing people that made the most money they probably ever have and had no time to spend it for an entire year and a half really a threat? They can take several months off and chill knowing there's a self-inflicted shortage in their field

An example of the that hospital system not taking covid seriously. In the middle of a pandemic....where all hospitals are filled up all the time, they fire almost 200 employees.

Yeah that’s fricking hysterical douchebag, I’m sure they don’t have bills to pay or kids future to consider. Majority of those families now have no healthcare coverage even though they provided comfort & care to the most vulnerable and suffering during this entire fiasco, see the irony a-hole or do I need to make it simpler?

This. Most hospitals already cannot fully staff the number of licensed beds they have. This policy is obviously counterproductive.

I hope they crash and burn.

New Orleans hospitals are on deck.

Most states do not pay unemployment benefits if an employee was fired. Louisiana is in that mix. Being laid off is what resulted in so much unemployment benefits being paid the last year & a half. The best bet for these employees is to find private practice jobs, but there can't be 175 out there.
