Think DDay

Does not equate to 2024.

I’m not saying that it can’t be overcome, but it would be a massive challenge.

Imagine going from debit cards back to physical checks.

Could it be done, yes.

Could it be done overnight, no.

I would suggest that our military(ESPECIALLY today’s version) is managed in a way that is woefully incompetent compared to the banking industry.

Just my .02.

We didn't have a problem fricking over our allies when Biden fricked up the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Biden and company couldn't even beat back a third world terror group. But we're somehow supposed to start ww3 against a nuclear power...for supposed allies? I've never met those alleged allies. Will those alleged allies come and fight and die for me if I'm ever in trouble?

After surviving the year’s deadliest firefight in Afghanistan, Sgt. Eric J. Harder made a humble request. The Fort Carson soldier phoned his mother, Mary Henry of suburban Minneapolis, and asked her to mail over a Minnesota Twins baseball cap — not for himself, he told her, but as a token of gratitude for a new brother.

In the chaos of the Oct. 3 assault on Combat Outpost Keating, Harder and fellow members of Fort Carson’s 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment welcomed two new comrades into their fold as they fought for their lives: A pair of Latvian soldiers who battled alongside them to defend their remote, mountain outpost from a well-armed enemy force. Eight from Fort Carson died in the daylong battle, in which several hundred enemy fighters took positions in the surrounding hills and raked the men with machine gun fire and rocket-propelled grenades.

Harder, 29, told his mother that if it hadn’t been for Janis Lakis, one of the Latvian soldiers, he might not have survived.

“He basically saved my life,” Harder told her. “I want him to have a Twins cap.”

Although Henry doesn’t know the full story behind Lakis’ intervention, those words were enough to earn him a place in her heart, and to convince her that a baseball cap wouldn’t settle the debt.

Lakis and the other Latvian soldier, Martin Dabolins, were assigned to the outpost near the Pakistan border to train members of the Afghan National Army. According to Henry, the Afghans fled when the shooting started, but Lakis and Dabolins fought valiantly alongside the Americans, cementing their bond.

SNIP

Sgt. 1st Class Janis Lakis woke up at 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, 2009, sipped some coffee and waited patiently to train Afghan soldiers, a routine set to begin in just an hour.

First, though, came the mortars, the screams of attack and the sight of shells exploding like popcorn.Nearly 10 months after the deadliest battle in 2009 for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, the two Latvian soldiers who fought there, along with their commander, reunited with their “American brothers” on Sunday, sharing their stories to attentive family members and quietly remembering those who lost their lives that autumn day.Gathering at VFW Post 3917 in Security with friends and family — many from the northeastern Europe country — Capt. Agris Liepins led many of the roughly 100 people in attendance in the singing of the Latvian national anthem.

'Then, he asked everyone to stand silently as they remembered the eight Fort Carson soldiers killed in the attack.

“On that day, we were family, we were brothers and everybody fought for each other,”

No, I believe my own mind and eyes because I had a client in Ukraine and have been there about thirty times.

So since there are signals indicating that Russia might be up to something naughty in Eastern Europe...you would prefer we sit on our asses and do nothing (and when a Russian invasion comes, say, "whoa, shoot, guess we should have been more prepared, oh well, too late now"). Reagan remains right. Peace through strength.

By NATO “volunteering” 300,000 of our troops to lead the way?

Maybe NATO could lead the way, don’t you think?

So you would prefer our troops follow some, say, Portuguese General? Belgian Captain?

I am delighted the USA is, as the leader of the free world, one again in the leader. Let us be America and lead, not follow.

He should ask the families of the Russian "contractors" who tested that theory in 2018 at Khasham.

I'm confused.... How long have they been struggling to take Ukraine? And they are going to open 2nd or 3rd fronts?

If they had overwhelmed Kiev and then had time to resupply...I would then think of the possibilities of other attacks being possible. But as is... You can't beat a lower tier opponent, you surely dontb waste manpower and armament on a second front ...against tougher opponents. This is either a show on Natos side or Kiev is close to losing?

How many times has WWIII been ready to jump off?

It's a show to let Putin know that NATO is aligned properly to make his life miserable if he decides he wants another ground offensive similar to Ukraine.

How many troops does every country in NATO have when you add them all together. I heard a retired SAS soldier from the UK saying their forces are incredibly weak because of how low their numbers are. They couldn’t fight a war on one front without US help.
