China has the distance factor to their advantage, however they are not capable of easily taking Taiwan at the moment either. They have zero ability to get an amphibious fleet across the strait without massive losses.

Again, this is a perk for China. You do not understand this country.

Biden will have to hide out in the basement for awhile. By the time they wake him up, the war will be over and he can say something idiotic and the press can proclaim that he is the best wartime president ever.

Putin won't have to fire a shot in Ukraine. The Chinese will invade Taiwan after the Olympics, wipe their asses with the US all over Asia, NATO will lose confidence in US ability to protect it, NATO unravels, Russia reestablishes Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe.

I’ve actually thought about this same scenario. I mean Biden won’t know what to do other than send them a strongly worded letter

Only reason the US stays safe. Out of these 3 countries, one could never team up with the other to take one out. It's basically a mexican stand-off.

Your take is the best one on here so far. China and Russia cannot afford to enter full on wars. They’d lose just as much as the rest of us, if not more as they are starting from a more advantageous position right now in the global power scheme and any aggressive actions could mean Japan, Australia, or Germany take their places in whatever would come after the war (UN 2.0). No, they are quite happy with their veto voting rights.

What they WILL probably do is coerce/scare tactic their way into land acquisition, but it only gets them so far. They will rot from the inside after that. Those societal structures always do. We’re also seeing that rot in the US in the far left

Good post and I mostly agree but the only thing that makes me wonder if this time really is different is how incredibly weak we are at the moment. Maybe they make the bet that we are on a rapid decline and hold off longer but we have the weakest US president ever, a military reeling from humiliation in Afghanistan, and Putin knows there will be little American domestic support for a war. I still don’t think anything happens but I’m on more alert than when they usually try this stunt

Long term, I agree. They’re going to have Taiwan. It just won’t be via an amphibious invasion followed by occupation anytime soon. China simply isn’t capable of doing it.

I know you’re saying that they want to use up their cannon fodder, but that is only an advantage if it leads to success. An amphib invasion of Taiwan would never make it to the beach at present.

China’s Air Force could cover them. They’re fortifying every barge they can find as we speak. They want their young men to die. The CCP is pure evil and millions on both sides will die if and when China invades Taiwan.

the same time ala World War Two.

Russia into Ukraine.

Same week, perhaps even the same day.

Nothing but propaganda from our new COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT. These countries don't want war. This is another scare tactic for the uninformed so that the comrades can continue eroding freedoms away you have today. All you have to understand is our CIA is involved, and the answer can be seen clearly.

Because they now have 34 million more males than females and almost all of them are in their mid-early adulthood. If they don’t send them to die in Taiwan, they’ll send them to protect their other assets in the world. This is a major problem for China right now.

It doesn't seem that hard to believe that one will move on one area and the other will do their stuff at the same time

They might have excess cannon fodder, but that doesn't justify the fact they have nothing strategic to gain. That demographic advantage is only useful if they can gain some tangible goal by sacrificing men. There are several better uses of that excess capacity, including using that capacity for their other geopolitical aims which are already underway.

Yes, he’s going to use them to take Taiwan, control the South China Sea, complete the Belt and Road Initiative, and control Africa while bribing off the war lords. This is a much bigger deal than you realize when you have nearly as many males as the population of California that have no prospect for marriage because then they get angry, and that anger can be put to good use.

They are referred to as the “bare sticks” generation.

India also has a similar issue, but not to the level of China.

A war between the two would solve a problem for both...as crazy as that sounds.
