A lot of the Space Force funding will come from current military funding. You realize the Army, Air Force, and Navy all spend money in space separately and individually? You realize how much waste and overlap there is? By combining all of these space programs under one umbrella it's possible we might see a more effective use of funds.
But yea it will cost more.

China and Russia are both growing their space force programs. If we don't keep up we will get left behind. This is being done out of necessity and has been going on since the Star Wars program if not earlier.
