KY specifies that the party of the deceased senator will give the governor a list of three potential replacements to be chosen from and a special election must be held in X days.
There was talk that Brashear would refuse to appoint anyone and just keep the seat vacant indefinitely but further law changes are supposed to have patched out his ability to do that.

However, anyone with extensive bedside experience knows that for an 84-year-old frail patient who has sustained an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest requiring full resuscitation, the idea that he is actively participating in daily Senate business is highly unlikely.
The brutal physical trauma of chest compressions combined with the high risk of acute neurological insult makes a return to a high-functioning baseline virtually impossible for someone with his preexisting vulnerabilities.
From my clinical perspective, the statistical chances of a full recovery are slim to none, serving as a stark reminder that political status cannot override physiological limits.
Who agrees that his constituents and the rest of America deserves the truth? ??

My first thought was why were they doing resusitaion on a frail 84 year old. The damage from that alone on someone already as frail as McConnel is a death sentence in itself. Just tells us how much of these peoples lives is ruled by power ego and politics than anything else. These people are sick individuals that work themselves to believe they alone are of super human importance.

So true...I had a friend who's mother was staying at her house after a hospital stay and her mother started getting sick or had pain...don't remember but an ambulance was called and they pounded on her chest trying to get her heart started again and she died. My friend went and got a DNR and posted the papers by her front door...she never wanted to go through that.
Another friend who's a physical therapist was working with an elderly patient at the hospital when she started having chest pain and they came in and pounded on that old ladies chest and broke her ribs. I don't think she lived.
