Mississippi AG Candidate is Proposing Something Interesting

In Jackson, there is a Capitol District that is covered by Capitol Police. Any crime that is committed there is a state offense. Ot is obviously right around the Capitol building and state government offices.
His proposal is to extend the Capitol District another 35 square miles, covering some (but not all) of the high crime areas in Jackson. Crimes that occurred in this area would also be subject to state courts.
The main issue in Jackson is not the police. Its the courts and the elected judges that let murderers out for a thousand bucks and throw out petty crime like auto theft.
Mark Baker's proposal is to extend the Capitol District and create a culture of Broken Window Policing.

The only real solution to fix Jackson is napalm.
Lots and lots of napalm.
Lots and lots of napalm.

Before we napalm, I'd like to see if competent judges would help.

Sounds good in theory to clean up the crime there, but it's a small scale equivalent of the feds running roughshod over states' rights. But if there's nothing in the MS constitution prohibiting this, I'm all for it.

Write competent judge on the side of a missile then. That city was shite in my childhood and has gotten progressively and exponentially worse since then.

Parts of Jackson are like a slightly better Mogadishu.

I interned for the summer with the US Attorney in Jackson. A friend of mine was also working in Jackson for the summer, clerking for a firm. We decided to get a cheap apartment together downtown close to our jobs. He went ahead first and I got there about two weeks later.
We pulled into the parking lot by our building and after we got out of the car he tells me that if I hear gunfire to just hit the ground.

Can we have a compromise? Can we napalm the judges first and see if that helps. The everyday Jackson city judges I mean.

I think Jackson is shite.
However, I agree. Clean it up. And If I were in MS, I would vote for that guy because he is understanding the A problem.
However, you are going to see a massive increase in prisoners. And he would need to prepare for that.

Edgy Aging Hipster says but can I still wear my fedora when I go out to the bars and restaurants on Fondren?

Obviously fighting crime is raaaaaaacist.

I’m not sure how that would work. Do the Capitol Police file charges at the Circuit Court in Hinds County?
If so, this is no change for felonies...still being heard by Kidd and Green...still releasin murderers on low bail and never going to trial.
They only way for Jackson to prosper is to file bankruptcy...have a receiver appointed...and give total control to that person AND have Feds take over police function.

Sell Jackson to a private company and see if they can turn it around.

Jackson is a shithole but Ridgeland and Madison seem to be nice places. Rankin County isn't bad either. THe Sheriff in Rankin doesn't seem to put up with too much shite from the Jackson natives.

the only solution to Jackson and other cities like that, is a demographic transformation,

Nah, the real solution is drug legalization and quit rewarding baby mommas for birthing out kids.
