Nah.

They know they're 'effing off.

It's why they are so adamant to be allowed to keep doing it. Think about it. If—as they'd like you to believe—they work just as long and hard when they're at home, then what's the big deal? Just come to the office. If that nose is to the grindstone for 8 solid either way, why does it matter whether you're at home or at the office? We all know why.

They aren't trying to convince themselves. They're hoping to convince you.

They doth protest too much, though. DOGE is only talking about federal employees. If their private employer is dumb enough to pay them for surfing TicTok in their underwear in between runs to the grocery store and the gym at home, nothing about this initiative will change that.

Johnson made the point that the statistics didn’t include security guards. You have to at least give the current administration credit for not allowing the security guards to work remotely.

why is your position not valued by your output but by your time in the chair?

Let's turn that around.

Let's say that the amount of output expected of you as an employee would reasonably take you 90 hours a week to achieve.

Would you worry about the amount of time it took or just focus on the output?

We all know the answer.

It works both ways. Both you and your employer care about how much time something takes (or doesn't).

Just think of the money we could save if there were more WFH opportunities. These brick and mortar buildings aren't cheap..

Or the flip side, the folks that don't even bother getting dressed, and sit around in the nightclothes all day.
I'm sure those types are saving on their laundry costs.

Water, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste. Shoes never lose their tread. The list goes on forever.

Doubtful

It will cause a lot of resignations.

GM did this in Austin about 2 years after Covid ended and discovered that many WFH employes s had gone so far as to move to SA, Houston, or out of state.

When GM insisted the come back to the office, they quit.

Lawsuits?

What court is going to rule that someone has a right to not report to work?

We've recently seen a judge overrule a bank's internal real estate valuation with an estimate pulled entirely out of his own arse. At this point there's no limit to what a partisan whacko judge will do.

Run off high value producers that can get WFH jobs elsewhere and retain the ones that think showing up on time and contributing to traffic is all they need to show how good they are. We're not talking about factory jobs here.

genius.

If a "high performance worker" cant even get in a car and drive to work, well your definition and mine must be a little different.

Im seeing 5 pages of people goofing off at home that are making excuses not to come to work

As much as I agree with you that the Trump case was an egregious abuse of prosecution with zero merit in the rulings, there was at least a legal concept at the heart of that case. There were laws underlying the rulings, even of the application of those laws was bogus.

There's no legal concept in this idea.

It literally is no more than what someone posted upthread.

"Yes, judge, my employer wants me to come to work and I don't want to. So I'd like to sue to force him to allow me to work this job the way I want to, not the way he wants me to."

What legal concept lets a judge make his own real estate valuation?

Yeah try IT Project Manager.

What gilded profession do you perform? Filling up the windshield washer fluid at the Citgo? Don't feel bad, though. That's a top paying profession in Mississippi.

100%

I own my own business and have 12 employees with 3 being remote. I know for a fact that when I'm working from home, I'm not nearly as efficeint as when I am in the ofiice. This does not mean I am not working, its just not to the efficeint level as if I were in office.

With that said, two of my remote employees out perform some of my in office staff. Would those remote employees be more efficent if I had them come into the office? Probbaly so, but they probably wouldnt work for me if I demanded that.

Remote works for some, but not the majority.

As opposed to surfing the internet and sitting around drinking coffee, going to the bathroom 5 times a day for 15 minute shits etc... and being in the office but still conducting every meeting via Zoom, Teams and Meet.

However, with that said, not sure how POTUS could mandate people going to the office. That's trying to dictate how someone runs/operates their business.

I think his intentions are regarding government employees.

If you can ask a question that isn't already answered in what I wrote, I will answer it.

I'm not willing to repeat myself because you can't or won't understand simple concepts.

Correct. This is also starting to happen in the private sector
