Michigan Gov Whitmer orders state government fleet to be 100% electric

I think this is another idiot who doesn't know where electric power comes from presuming she doesn't have plans to build several nuclear power plants.

Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive directive Tuesday forcing the state government's entire fleet of vehicles, both light-duty and heavy-duty, to transition to zero-emission.
Under Whitmer's actions, Michigan's state agencies must convert all state-owned light-duty vehicles to zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) by 2033 and all medium and heavy-duty vehicles by 2040. The governor said the move — which earned endorsements from clean energy groups, the United Auto Workers (UAW) union and Detroit Regional Chamber — would reduce pollution and lead to lower costs in the state.

How well do EVs work in subzero temps, BTW?

These people have rarely done anything in real life and therefore don't understand the "why not"... Somehow, we got away from the best and brightest leading this country...

It’s like they learned nothing from McNamara and his “whiz kids” running Vietnam and making all kinds of “innovative” decisions like taking anyone breathing instead of only people meeting standards.

This is good. As she destroys MI and they stop using so much fossil fuel, that means supply goes up and prices come down for the rest of the nation that remains sane.

Just politiking!! He knows he will be nothing in 10 years and no one will remember what he said or proclaimed 10 years prior.

That's great, they'll find out how shitty they are.
My supervisor was given an EV Rental on his Honeymoon.
Said he wasted anywhere from two to three hours a day looking for charging stations and charging the Car.

"Congress at the urging of the Biden administration agreed in 2021 to spend $7.5 billion to build tens of thousands of electric vehicle chargers across the country, aiming to appease anxious drivers while tackling climate change.
Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.
States and the charger industry blame the delays mostly on the labyrinth of new contracting and performance requirements they have to navigate to receive federal funds. While federal officials have authorized more than $2 billion of the funds to be sent to states, fewer than half of states have even started to take bids from contractors to build the chargers — let alone begin construction.
It appears that bureaucratic red tape isn't conducive to building and manufacturing, whether the government wants you to be making things or not. Quite the conundrum!"

So all of their state police offices, the DMVs, the state parks, their DOTD, etc will have to have multiple state-vehicle-only charging stations at every location. I don't think she cares what the actual definition of "cost effective" is.

Whitman has about 11 months left as gov. and it is real easy to make proclamations for 10-15 years from now when she will be approaching nursing home status

Let’s hope that nursing home standards are the same as they were under Covid when that happens.

Think of all of the steam that those coal plants are going to be creating. That’s distilled water in my book
that we can use to feed the city of Flint Michigan. Great idea!
