Even the sponsor won't back it now.

Biden lied like a rug and said he needed this to fix the border ;as he ignores all basic federal laws and is giving illegals SS Cards

The Turtle GOP was all in on this scam that gives Majorkas even more power to frick it all up.

It also has aid to Taiwan, Ukraine, Israel stuffed in it.

Can anyone find the article that the bills are all outsourced to be written?

Every news network, Gayle King, The View, CNN, Morning Joe & Jenna Bush... bashing Speaker Johnson as holding up true progress so the democrats can blame republicans for Biden's/Obama's border crisis...

DID.NOT.WORK

This is very good news. The spell is broken. Karen dipshits probably believe it with Hollywood celebs but they are the minority! Who cares...

I found the article...
quote:

Recap: Corporations (special interest group) write the legislation. Lobbyists take the law and go find politician(s) to support it. Politicians get support from their peers using tenure and status etc. Eventually, if things go according to norm, the legislation gets a vote.

Within every step of the process there are expense account lunches, dinners, trips, venue tickets and a host of other customary financial waypoints to generate/leverage a successful outcome. The amount of money spent is proportional to the benefit derived from the outcome.

The important part to remember is that the origination of the entire process is EXTERNAL to Congress.

Congress does not write laws or legislation, special interest groups do. Lobbyists are paid, some very well paid, to get politicians to go along with the need of the legislative group.

When you are voting for a Congressional Rep or a U.S. Senator, you are not voting for a person who will write laws. Your rep only votes on legislation to approve or disapprove of constructs that are written by outside groups and sold to them through lobbyists who work for those outside groups.

While all of this is happening, the same outside groups who write the laws are providing money for the campaigns of the politicians they need to pass them. This construct sets up the quid-pro-quo of influence, although much of it is fraught with plausible deniability.

This is the way legislation is created.

If your frame of reference is not established in this basic understanding, you can often fall into the trap of viewing a politician, or political vote, through a false prism. The modern origin of all legislative constructs is not within Congress.

“we’ll have to pass the bill to, well, find out what is in the bill” etc. ~ Nancy Pelosi 2009

“We rely upon the stupidity of the American voter” ~ Johnathan Gruber 2011, 2012.

Once you understand this process, you can understand how politicians get rich

Republican voters are getting more difficult to deal with and fool. Poor Mitch. He wanted to craft the legislation which ensured an open border forever.

Sorry, whatever role McConnell played, this is what Lankford claimed:

The Border Emergency Authority has been the most misunderstood or maybe just misrepresented parts of the bill. Some people have said it would mean 5,000 people a day are coming into the country every day. That is absurd and untrue.

The emergency authority is not designed to let 5,000 people in, it is designed to close the border and turn 5,000 people around.

The Border Emergency Authority only lasts 3 yrs to force this Admin to shut down the border & to give time for the next POTUS to hire more agents & more officers. After three years, the emergency authority expires because we should have regained full control of our border by then
You can't fix stupid.

MSN has a headline out 2 hours ago that Turtle kneels to Donald Trump over border

It is now being aggregated as NEWS for pages.

TWO Nikki Haley headlines. Plus she backed this bill blaming Trump for trying to torpedo the bill. How will she wiggle out now?

Nikki Haley is smug and delusional — ‘First I took out the fellas. Now I take out Trump.’

Nikki requests Secret Service protection, after threats.

Not very good at reading the room. I would say the political mood of the country is pretty steadfast. The idiot just didn't see it. Even the democratic mayors are screaming "uncle".

Haley is planning a NH democrat voter crossover redux in SC.

Only 130K voted statewide in the recent SC Dem primary. That's about 25% of 2020 numbers. Biden pulled 126K vs 235K in 2020, but the 95% margin was hailed as a massive "landslide".

The real relevance though is SC is an open primary state. Just 130K voting in the dem primary leaves lots of room for Dems to fake boost Haley's numbers in the upcoming GOP Primary, just as they did in NH. The MSM will laud her fake boost as "momentum".

I’d be curious to see who the main drafters of this bill are.

I sent my Senator Cornyn an email yesterday. Looks like he was right along with Mitch on this Bill and would've passed it. Hopefully they are listening to their constituents.

No reason this should be grouped with foreign aid.
The Dems/Obama/Biden created the border invasion and created the circumstances for it to be inevitable. Then they want to push some comprehensive bill and put a full court press on republicans.

Its good that he is responding to public discourse on the issue and adjusting accordingly. The issue is how the bill even got as far as it did to begin with.

Republicans don't support more Ukraine money, are split on more Israel money, and the border portion doesn't do anything conservatives are asking for.

People need to pay attention to this part. It was never about securing the border. It was always about keeping the money laundering operation going.

Which makes it doubly stupid IMHO.

Ukraine aid was already on people’s shite list. Tieing it to an unbelievably stupid and unpopular plan shows how out of touch they were.

the republians have a homerun issue with the border crisis. it will lead to a decisive victory in november. why mcconnell would piss that away with this bill is crazy. langford had to have seen this. a blind man could have. a senator does not have this poor political instincts.

1. They don’t want the border to be the issue. They make their money catering to the Chamber of Commerce, who wants cheap labor.

2. They would rather milk the issue than fix it because fixing it means they can no longer run on doing it, which takes an issue out of their arsenal for both fundraising and votes.

3. They would rather be the minority party bitching than be the majority party leading. Much less work for about as much money.
