Question: What do YOU, your family and community personally gain from a totally unnecessary war with Iran? Are you willing to lay some skin in the game?

Wars need not be fought for an individuals "personal gain" but for world security and stability and the rule of international law.

It is not an unnecessary war with Iran, it is completely necessary and one could argue should have been fought by Carter when the Shah was deposed.

We all have skin the game. We all benefit from an orderly world governed by nuclear agreements and other agreements.

Hey retard. Should we have sent them some pamphlets so they can decide if they want us to fund gay Sesame Street or non-binary water?

You can thank Israel for that, which controls our so called “America First” president.

The United States has absolutely no reason for war with Iran.

Iran is not a threat to the United States, only to Israel and Zionism.

Iran IS a threat to the USA and I am astonished anyone would argue otherwise.

Except he's very wrong. Congress surrendered that right to the president. Has Massie ever tried to repeal the War Powers Act or does he only have an issue with Trump using it?

If he has tried to repeal it, then surely he must know it gives Trump the authority.

Why do you fricktards hate the Constitution when your guy is in charge? Congress controls spending and declares war. That’s what they do.

Congress gave the President authority to make attacks. Go whine to them. Apparently, they didn't get your memo about it being their job. While you're there, tell Massie to read up on the law. Being principled doesn't matter when you're wrong.

I think Congressional support as part of Constitution was destroyed by our predecessors who limited our effectiveness in the Vietnam conflict. Now it's a free for all. How do you interpret the Constitution for reacting to an immediate threat. Oh shucks, we're dead might not cut it.

It just might be outdated. War response shouldn't need an act of congress if we are under attack. That's typically not the case in our latest incursions where Reagan, Dubya, Obama, Trump executed military strikes without Congressional support. It's probably an area of the Constitution that needs further clarification in the modern age.

It’s not a matter of being the world police. Houthis are f’ing up the major shipping lane. They’re essentially forcing shippers to go south around southern Africa

Not that i'm against fricking up the Houthis but you quite literally just described being the world's police.

The contempt in which some of you hold knowing wtf you're talking about is just.... sad.

The congressional declaration of war is about resource allocation towards a war effort and a limited timeline. The executive branch CAN still carry out strikes. After 60 days, the congressional declaration of war must be given.

I knew the freaking Benjamin Netanyahu would blow our chance and an economic resurgence.

Trump taking the bait.

An Iranian war would wipe out DOGE savings 4x.

And yes, bombing Yemen is one thing. A war with Iran requires a declaration of war.

One of my sons is active-duty Navy. He is not deployed anywhere close to the middle east, but that is irrelevant.

Here is my take:

If some entity (the Houthis) is attacking our soldiers, then eradicate them with expediency. If another entity (Iran) is helping them, then punish them also.

Having said that, I want someone from the administration to explain to me why the lives of our soldiers are being put at risk.

Who or what is our Navy protecting? US citizens or assets?

Or are they just there to watch Israel's back?

Or protect European interests?

Or do dirty work for the Saudis?

If our Navy is not there defending the US, then they need to get the frick out.

Yea.. let's just allow them to keep bombing our warships. Just let them blow them all up and then reward them by sending over our Statute of Liberty statue to tell them thanks.

Who is advocating for doing nothing? Follow the Constitution. Declare war.

This is one of the most simple minded takes I've heard on this board, but it sums up the isolationist/populist foreign policy view perfectly. Guy living in rural middle America has zero clue about geopolitics and how events on the other side of the world impact our nation.

What happened to the peacemaker who cuts deals?

Hard to cut deals with a group that holds all the cards because they have been allowed to do as they please with no repercussions. Bidens pussy arse should have started dropping bombs after the first drone attack. But it was after 4:00pm so he had already had his diaper changed and was in bed asleep.
