Yeah more reason not to frick with people's property. You never know what sort of idiot is there
Actually - it should be the fathers doing this, but the inner cities don't have that many responsible men.

Any charges been filed against those neglecting parents. Why was an 11 year old out playing pranks at 11pm?
better question; how many times did they ring this guy's doorbell before he lost his shite?
i highly doubt a solitary doorbell ring caused this guy to look for a firearm and shoot at the kids like they're making it sound.
i imagine i'd be pretty grumpy if my doorbell kept ringing at 11pm at night and i had to get up for work at 5am.
the parents who encouraged or ignored what these kids were doing are at fault too.
next thing you know, you're gonna say its ok to spray your next door neighbor with a water hose. all in good fun.

This thread needs to be deleted or edited by admins. It’s a straight up lie. They aren’t playing “ding dong ditch”. They are kicking people’s doors in.

Time to deploy national guard. People shooting in the streets of houston. Children dying in the streets. Lock em down.

It will be interesting to see the number of these pranks going forward.

Is this true? Video? Local news reports? Another Muh "I can't breathe" scenario?
Your comment is spot on. Those in the know should not hesitate but get the truth out asap. Lest unjustified passions arise.

This dude who likely is trying to make up for having a small member is not necessarily the same as:

The guy who open carries to go grab a cup of coffee kind of mofo.
There’s both a proper way, physically and mentally, to open carry in a setting like this, and those who do so the correct way aren’t the same as what you described in the first part.
Now that said…concealed with the proper prior training and not being a John Wayne wannabe is preferred.

Apparently this was the third time they had done it in 15 minutes.
There are circumstances where Texas law allows you to shoot a fleeing suspect but if this part is true, it doesn't sound likely for this guy.

Yeah no. The little kid ran off after ringing the doorbell and the guy followed him and shot him in the fricking back. The guy was waiting for him and saw it was just some dumb little kids. There is nobody at fault in this story but the sociopath who shot a little kid.

Maybe someone cares to deconstruct the factors that created situations like this in “Modern America”. Put another way, did this sort of thing happen 60 years ago?

That is the question I have.
Not that it justifies shotting a kid in the back that was running away. But if this guy and his family had to deal with dozens or hundreds of these incidents over a short period of time - it would be an important element to the story.

I got $50 that even if they did kick the door, if they really turned and ran down the street and were shot in the back while fleeing, the guy's still going to prison.
I’m not betting against you there.
My question, if it’s “kick the door in” why did the news say “ding dong ditch?”

Here’s a report from Houston a month ago of a kid doing the door kick challenge.

A 11 year old out at 11pm, going up to strangers houses and knocking on doors. Parents should be held accountable for the minor child. You think its ok to let 11 year olds run the streets at 11pm?
No, it’s not ok for parents to let 11 year olds run the streets at night.
I also don’t think charging these parents with a crime after their 11 year old was just killed is the right thing to do. Apparently, you think they should.

Well, you also can't chase someone down the street and shoot them in the back for ringing your doorbell and running away.
Shooting dumb people should be rewarded.

It’s a lie?
quote:
Houston Police Sgt. Michael Cass, the lead detective on the case, told CBS News the suspect was "waiting in the shadows in his own side yard behind a fence" after the boy and his cousin knocked on his door Saturday night and ran away.
The boy, identified by police as Julian Guzman, was attending a family gathering about a block away in the east Houston neighborhood, and after getting bored, decided to go with his 10-year-old cousin and play ding-dong ditch, in which pranksters ring the doorbell or knock on the door of a home and then run away. Police said the two cousins had knocked three times on the suspect's door within a span of about 15 minutes.
On the third knock, the cousins ran as fast as they could, but the homeowner was waiting behind the fence in his yard. Guzman was recording the incident on his phone, police said, showing himself knocking and running. Shots are heard on the video, police said, and there is audio of the boy gasping.
Guzman was wounded when police arrived at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday, police said.
Gonzalo Leon Jr., 42, has been charged with murder and booked into the Harris County jail, according to online records. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Police said Leon is a former Army veteran who was deployed and spent time in the reserves.
Police found Leon at a hotel in La Porte, Texas, with a packed car. The hotel was booked for three days, Cass said. (CBS)
