This is a joke right?
The less educated get all excited about hearing “balanced budget” yet they don’t understand the moves that had to be made to get it balanced.
Just because it’s balanced doesn’t mean it’s right.
The governor gave him millions from the state and he’s already pulled from the teachers retirement or said he was going to.
He sucks and the people who like or voted for this idiot are low iq.

this is the equivalent of saying, “I balanced my household budget,” because I paid the mortgage with a cash advance, skipped my 401k contribution, and convinced my parents to cover the electric bill. hopefully even the dumb NY Liberals realize this is nonsense
That is divine.

Next time someone tells you living in rural NY is nothing like living in NYC...
...remind them who pays NYC's bills.

ot what I thought the guy would bring to the table but you have to admit maybe he’s onto something. I’m sure there’s things he’d love to waist money on but so far it looks like he’s holding back.

Not to mention they also just increased their projected revenue for the year, among the other things mentioned. It’s pretty hilarious anyone is trying to use this as some type of slam dunk.

This isn’t true really. He got a bailout from the state of 8 billion dolllars. This is a short term fix for a long term problem. They created all of these programs that will last year. And just paying off the first year. They don’t have money for the following years. Know the whole story.

Much of that is financial smoke and mirrors and one-time money to cover the deficit.
And pushing things backs will increase deficits in future years and it'll hurt if there isn't a bunch of Wall Street bonuses infusing extra tax money into the budget.
Also, as of now, there is a projected 7 billion dollar deficit in the budget for next year (IIRC, I think I read that there is a projected 25 billion projected in budgets over the next 3 years).
As Mamdani Pulls Budget Rabbit From Hat, Watchdogs Fret Over ‘One-Shots’
quote:
But the budget is hardly a symbol of fiscal rectitude. It relies on billions of dollars in one-shot or short-term money to fund permanent programs, it stretches out pension payments so the next generation will pay for the retirements of present-day workers and it projects a $7 billion deficit for the 2028 fiscal year that will need to be closed just one year from now.
One sign of the problem: The mayor did not mention the deficits in future budgets in his presentation Tuesday of the $124.7 billion budget. Fiscal experts say they do not remember a time when a mayor didn’t acknowledge future year problems.

NYC pays rural NY's bills

Mayor Zohran Mamdani secured $4 billion in new state support and actions from Governor Kathy Hochul to help balance the 2026-2027 New York City budget. This aid is part of a larger, two-year, nearly $8 billion total state support package that allowed the city to close a $12 billion budget deficit without major service cuts or tax hikes.
How so?
