So state employees have to forego all opinions on matters of public concern?
The state civil service actually has a pamphlet about state employees and their prohibited political activities.
Louisiana.gov
I highly doubt that a phone message rant would qualify as prohibited though.

Does the first amendment protect you from being fired?

Glad to see you guys are outraged, but resolute that he should keep his job and not face professional repercussions.
I always knew we had mature, thoughtful posters here.

When did the professor lose his 1st Amendment protections when calling an elected representative about a matter of public concern?
I don’t think anyone is calling for him be imprisoned. I’d have to imagine that voicemail could be in violation of his contract with the university.
Cute game you’re playing, though.

If I left a profanity laden voicemail for a politician I would assume there would be consequences. That has little to do with the 1st amendment.
I also don’t have the emotional intelligence of an 8 year old so there’s that
Great gotcha. 6.4/10

Leaving death threats isn't protected speech. The sheriff didn't investigate it for no reason.

Yes, when Torrance Hatch is your political and moral North Star, you know you’re on the right side of things, Steve.

As far as I can find, he is a grad student in the sociology department. He was in the 2017-18 cohort, so maybe he graduated, but I doubt it. He may teach a class, but he is not a professor.
I strongly suspect he will be moved to a research assistant position. His rate my professor ratings had a lot of mentions of him pushing his ideological slant in class.

If he isn’t tenured faculty, I wouldn’t expect him to be there when fall semester starts.

He’s prolly a little more exposed without tenure.

Needs to be removed from the LSU system yesterday.
If this is the trash that are teaching at LSU, LSU has a serious problem.

Serious answers only from constitutional conservatives only, please.
He says that they are going to put him in the ground. That's a direct threat.

Probably around the same time you openly mocked the citizens of Louisiana on this message board for attempting to recall their shitty governor instead of relying on their feckless elected officials and the judicial branch to do their jobs.
How’d that turn out for you, by the way?
